I would like to upgrade to this: http://www.ascendtech.us/hp-pavilion-400w-power-supply-5188-2533_i_psuhppm51882533.aspx
I would like to make certain that all pin connectors, as well as fit would be as O.E.M. All replies are appreciated. Need more power for upgrading graphics card.

* If any notice the technical specifications of the Bestec 400 Watt PSU, they appear to be of lower value, yet more watts (400). Can any provide insight here?

When I just built a new rig for the first time in ~ 7 years I used the detailed info on Newegg's site to see pictures and get descriptions of each of the power connectors. For example SATA power for hard drives or DVD burners, 6 / 8 pin for PCI, etc. and made sure it had what I needed. I suspect you'll be able to do the same. Most current PSU's are quite flexible and include an array of cable options, especially the modular ones.

What computer are you installing into? It doesn't necessarily need a PSU from the same brand.

HP 6370t. Only seeking the upgraded PSU to install a video card requiring more watts. However, the card I'm using now is working great and am unsure as to upgrade at present time. Running Windows 7 for about ten years and would not like to add unnecessary components. In fact, purchasing a new HP with Windows 10 is an option.

I really like Windows 7 and the i5 650 processor is still as fast when purchased; 3.2 ghz. Thanks for your reply.

If you measure the dimensions of your existing power supply, most of the major manufacturers list dimensions on their websites. I know EVGA is very good about it, though I recall that they list them in milimeters and not in inches.

Are you sure the video card you want to install has enough space in your HP case?

That claims to be a genuine exact replacement, and from the connectors on it, it appears that it uses non-proprietary / standard ATX 24-pin and 4-pin connectors, which means that you should be able to purchase any PSU that fits those dimensions in your case, as mentioned by the posters above me.

Think maybe a Corsair 550VX or something would work, not too expensive?

Edit: Maybe they don't make the VX anymore? Here's a 650VS, note the shorter PSU depth compared to some of their other models like the CX series.

Though, you would probably want a short-depth one, with modular connectors, so you don't have to deal with "cable sprawl" inside the case.

Here's a JG review of the 550VX from Corsair:

Guess that's out of date, I guess that they don't make those any more, new, sorry.
