So currently I have an AC router/gigabit switch upstairs in my laundry room where the 110 block is to distribute the ethernet thru the house. Downstairs I have a 10/100 switch which has worked well, but today Im getting 150M internet installed, so im gonna need a gigabit switch downstairs if i want to get over 100M. Now I have like 3 dsl modem/gateways in the garage, 2 of which have 10/100/1000 switches in them. Any way I can not use the modem/wifi portion of those and just merely have them split the connection downstairs so i can be cheap and not buy a standalone gigabit switch?

What will i need to do to avoid double NAT?

Look in the manual. You should be able to find the manuals online. Gitabit switch are dirt cheap these days anyway.

It depends on the device. Most routers have the ability to act as a simple switch. To do it with a modem, you'd need a way to disable the modem/gateway/DHCP portion (and the WIFI as well if you don't want that). I haven't seen many DSL modem/router combos with those options but it's possible that one of yours might be able to do it.

I have an Actiontec FV2200 (Frontier) and a Actiontec C1000A (Centurylink). The FV2200 has a WAN port on it as well as the LAN ports. I think it might be my best bet to start with, itll just be interesting to see how to disable the whole modem side of things.

All he has to do is turn off dhcp on the dsl modem/gateway/switch and use just the lan ports.

this worked. Turned off wifi, changed the modem address to 192.168.1.2 (main router is 192.168.1.1), turned off DHCP, firewall, and NAT and it connected immediately and is working. Thanks everyone. Saved me $19 and 2 days shipping (or a trip to Best Buy)
