The blind ignorance of this clumsy and unnecessary insult and annoyance to so many of our loyal members may not be something he can address. But until and unless he bothers himself to let us know, I cannot say if this is completely out of his hands to ameliorate or not. It may not be.

The courtesy of a reply is HIS minimal responsibility, though.

So these isiots who own this site decided that those of us in P&N had to adhere to a new code of conduct!1 It was mentioned thjat is doing so it might make more people feel welcome and want to participate!

I will have to admit that it seems after the first one, I never received another message. It seems my thankfully not too cryptic request to be removed within the first handful of replies was honored.

It is most unfortunate that there are some reporting here (which represents but a small minority of those with similar thoughts, mind) that there requests have not been honored.

And frankly, it is alarming that the one we call Perknose has gone unanswered. I don't know the ins and outs of the moderation, direction, and ownership interplay but I can't imagine it normally operating in this manner -- at least it never spilled over into public discourse.

Also, I still think this idea is ill-advised via PM if that is how it is still occurring.

Also I apologize to the mods I hit report on every single one of these PMs, but you can imagine users get frustrated when they get a PM which triggers an email notification (I don't want to turn off email notifications because I rarely get PMs anyway and it's usually something important like a mod warning or sale discussion). There's no unsubscribe button which is required by law for email commercial messages, and maybe you could argue this one passes the legal threshold as it's a PM, but it's just super frustrating for a user to run into this.

Moreover who is this Mohammed guy? It's not a name I recognize from the editors list, and at least I could understand if one of the editors was sending out this newsletter or even Anand himself. So again, it's not hard to see why members get frustrated when they see a name they don't recognize send stuff like this.

In this day and age of spam emails, robocalls, scam text messages, and virtually every social platform is overrun with spam bots who also spam PMs, I really can't fault users for getting pissed off.

So much this. The number of mods and up that have come out against this in a public thread is .... unprecedented.

While my post count might be low, I’ve been registered here for just over 15 years now, and lurked a lot for long before that (and after as well clearly.) This needs fixing if they want to keep mods, let alone users.

For the sake of clarity: @MMohammed I do not, have not ever, and would not ever like to have a "Newsletter" unless I specifically request it via website menu option or other user consented means.
