Can my Chieftech PSU be the source of my "FF" problem with EPOX?

I posted this in the "motherboards" section, however maybe I can get additional responses here...

Tonight we tried to build our system using an EPOX 8kHA+ board, PC2100 DDR, Athlon XP, etc etc. We put the processor, H/S, Fan, RAM, and video card in...and decide to power it up to see if it cycled through the codes (did this outside the case). Anyhow, I have a Chieftech case with a 420PSU...we immediately get the "FF" code. However, when I hooked up the mobo to our old system (250W PSU)...it cycled through the codes stopping at "7F" (I think an error for floppy drive not being installed or something). In either case..we keep getting an immediate "FF" code with the CHieftech case and 420W PSU and then we get a cycle of codes with our old PSU. Does this mean something is wrong with our PSU? Any help would be great. If so, then I'll RMA it and get a new one from newegg

Thanks

E

Don't worry about it. It's suppose to say FF after it's verified that there are no problems. So long as you're not having any problems, I'd leave it alone and be happy with it.

Shouldn't it cycle through codes first before reaching "FF"? With the 250PSU it cycels through some codes..with the 420PSU it goes immediately to "FF" upon pushing the start button...

I bet if you check the power supply, it is set to 240 volts
and it should be set to 115. I worked with my setup for a
day before I checked and switched it. Booted up right away.
Man, did I feel stupid!

MAT: DITTO here! It not our fault though! The PS is sold by a US retailer to be sold in the US where we use 110v AC, not 230VAC! Thats the last thing anyone would check! This is poor QC on Newegg/Chieftech. I wasted alot of time too and was ready to RMA the thing too.

I got the same setup as that described, my cycles through a few (I don't count or nothin) then it goes to "FF"...

I suppose that means everything is OK, becuase I have never had anything else, not that I know of anyways.

With an epox mobo, the FF means that the motherboard has cycled through its codes and sent the process on to the operating system. When the OS is up and running the FF code will stay right there on the mobo, meaning, all is well...continue computing...

He (ECS99)said it immediately displayed "FF", no cycling through the codes. I had a similar problem with this case/PS on my 8k7a+, the only thing was it would display a "00" no cycling through the codes at all.

Funny thing is that the 5v and 12v were present and had powered up all the HD's and CDroms and fans for me so it fooled me/wasted my time. Flicking the Voltage selections switch on the rear fixed my problem, so hopefully its that simple.

Thanks guys..I"ll check the voltage settings. Yeah with the 420W PSU it goes to "FF" immediately. Granted "FF" means all is good..but from what I've heard it needs to cycle through codes first. Plus with the 420W PSU..I have a blank screen. With the 250W PSU...I get close to the bios with an error saying something about my floppy...
