Can my PSU handle this?

Hey all. I have the Fortron Blue Storm 500W and I was wondering if it could handle this load:

1 x MCP-650 pump
4 x 120mm fans
2 x DVD-RW Drive
1 x CD-RW Drive
1 x 120GB
1 x 80GB
4 x 160GB
2 x UV cold cathodes
1 x UV LED
1 x 6800NU
Audigy, TV Tuner, and IDE controller card.

Currently I have everything above except for 2 x 160GBs and 1 x DVD-RW, and the voltages are +12 @ +11.9, +5 @ +4.89, and -12V @ -11.87.

Basically I want to know if adding two extra 160s and another DVD-RW will cause problems. If so I might jump on the free 160W PSU offer at newegg and run these seperately from that PSU (jumped of course).

Ooooo... thanks for the links. Didn't even know they had wattage calculators...

Currently I'm standing at 545W with the extra hard drives and burner and my Fortron is 500W. Should I push it or should I just go and get that free PSU on newegg?

I'm thinking it's doable because like you said, the calculated wattage is at full load.

The Fortron listed will handle it, and far more than you can throw at it. It is rated at continuous lod, not peak load. I have seen the same PSU powering twin 256MB 6800 vid cards, along with 6 7200 RPM HDD, 2 x DVD R/W, 2GB of RAM, and a Prometia cooling setup.

Hah, that PSU calculator puts my duallie @ 428w. I wonder how it's lasted so many years on a 300w PSU.

A 500W PSU should be able to handle anythng that you can fit into a mid-tower case. It's highly unlikely, even with all that stuff, that you'll be drawing more than 300W from the wall and putting 200-250 into the load. except for when all your HDs try to start at once (you're talking up to 12A on the +12 for a very short time just for HD startup). I might consider trying to rig a delay into the start of some of those HDs. Once past startup, no problemo...

Remember: Calc is based on all devices at once and full load...a peak value if you wish...

Even at peak value, I know I'm not pulling 617 watts! :Q At peak, my APC UPS measures 295-315 watts being pulled by the PSU. This includes any PSU waste, due to inefficiency. At idle, I get 150-160 watts.
