honestly, I could never use an old car as a daily driver and long distance travel car, having no A/C on a highway or in a traffic jam in the summer is a deal breaker for me.
Not to mention security features and maintenance costs and fuel consumption, which is probably important in case you're selling one for money reasons.

But I'm a A-to-B car kinda guy.

It depends on how strong your passion burns, because I see plenty of people driving old cars for hundreds of kilometers and enjoying it.

EDIT: your poll is wrong.

Argghh I meant 1989, and I can´t seem to find how to modify the poll. Anybody know how, maybe even delete the whole thread?

The reason I´m getting rid of one is because I can only keep one "2nd car", I actually have a Kia Sportage for as a DD. The M3 actually has aircon and is quite comfortable. Either one would only be driven a max of 300km per month. Believe it or not, maintenance costs are actually about the same.

in this case ignore my vote, I'd keep whichever one you enjoy driving and owning more. The old one looks better imho.

Too many factors here: how much wear on the old car, what kind of driving and how much of it. Ideally, if you just need the space, rent a garage for the '89 and watch it creep up in value while it sits there hiding it's beauty from the outside world.

If you love them both enough to not decide, I'd keep the '89 even if just from a financial perspective. The 2012 has a lot of depreciation left in it, while the '89 will probably remain pretty stable.

This makes it no contest for the m3 for me.

If you need, can you not buy another 1M very easily? Could you buy a car like your M3 easily? I guess now you know my answer! It is obvious that you will regret your selling M3 lot more than selling your 1M.

M3 no question. I don't care how much better the new one performs, it'll never have the same feel and character of the 89.

E30 without even a 2nd thought.

To me it's the nicest/best BMW ever made. I love it.

1 series on the other hand, I'm not a fan of it AT ALL. Fugly and weird looking and doesn't really steer ANY emotion out of me.

New BMWs do NOTHING for me. Bleh

E30 M3 = sex. I'm pretty sure I wet myself few times upon seeing it.....it can be a kid thing/childhood memories etc. Who knows.

PS. I would NOT daily drive neither, especially the E30 and simply get a nice/reliable daily commuter. Keep the nice car for special days.

I voted M3 because it's a true icon. 1M is still a cool car and reasonably rare, but it just doesn't seem as special.
