I have a Klipsch Promedia 2.1 (new version) that I got from Black Friday for $100. Loving it so far. I share it between my Win desktop and my MacBook Air. When I need to use the Air, I unplug it from my desktop's lineout and plug it into my laptop's headphone jack. In doing so, it creates this static-ky loud sound. Because the speakers cannot be turned off, I can't avoid this. Is this harmful?
And since these are my first pair of decent computer speakers, what are some newbie tips for keeping it in good condition? People who have owned them for 5+ years recommended them so I want to have them last me at least that long too.
