Can SiS 645DX chipset lock pci/agp freq?? Need help finding right mb to o/c.

Does the 645DX chipset have the ability to lock the pci and agp frequencies at 33 and 66??

The 845e and 845g can do it, but I can't find any motherboards that have the exact features I'm looking for.

I'm planning on overclocking so here is what I need:

socket 478
533mhz support
Onboard RAID (ata 133)
DDR333 support
Onboard LAN (not a big deal)
pci/agp lock


The closest I've found was the MSI 845G Max L, except it's missing the onboard raid.
Well I actually found one that matches everything but there's a problem. It's the Epox 4G4a+. I was looking at the description on newegg and it says that 3.3v AGP is unsupported. Is this gonna be a problem?? I have a Geforce4 Ti 4400.

If anybody knows of any mb's that fit that description lemme know.

The Epox 4G4A+ is an excellent motherboard but it's not a 645dx--it's an Intel 845G.

No problem with your Ti4400. 3.3v AGP is an old standard, so unless you have a really old card, you have nothing to worry about.

I believe all P4 boards have the potential to lock down, but so far only Abit boards have used that ability. Of course, it's still a bit flaky, my TH7II-RAID has given me problems a couple times, but nothing major by any stretch of the imagination.

The Abit SD7-8x might be a good choice, with ATA133, DDR333, USB2.0 and AGP 8x support. It's the SiS648 chipset and doesn't mention whether it locks down the PCI/AGP, but neither does the TH7II, so I guess it's just not important enough to list. Still doesn't mean that the board has it or not, of course.

From what I understand, the IT7 is an awesome overclocker. I845E chipset.

Actually, several have. Abit, Epox, Asus, Gigabyte, maybe others..have models that have the lock feature. MSI does not.

Yea.. I know the Epox board is based on the 845g. I'm trying to stay away from the 845e cause it doesn't take advantage of DDR333 and the 845g does (this is according to tom's hardware).


The SIS 648 chipset looks interesting, w/ AGP 8x support...but I don't feel like waiting for those boards to come out.

845G has 4:5 and 3:4 mem ratios
845D/E has 3:4 mem ratio

Examples:
133 FSB 4:5 ratio = DDR333
133 FSB 3:4 ratio = DDR355

The 845E can run DDR333+ speeds. It depends on the board and what FSB you plan on running.
