From what I understand the first year you are there, the fees are based on 60% of what your car's new msrp was. Is that correct? So if i have my 89 BMW 750il titled in AZ I must go off the $65000 original msrp even though the car is worth $2000?

Any help clarifying this issue is appreciative.

Thanks

The VLT is based on an assessed value of 60% of the manufacturer's base retail price reduced by 16.25% for each year since the vehicle was first registered in Arizona (15% before 8/1/98). Then, as of the Dec 1, 2000 reduction, the rate is calculated as $2.80 (new vehicles)/$2.89 (used vehicles) for each $100 of the assessed value. For example, for a new vehicle that costs $25,000, the first year assessed value would be $15,000 and the VLT would be $420.00. The second year the assessed value would be $12,562.50 and the VLT would be $363.06.

I know about that-that is where I got the info from. I want to hear from Arizonans who have actually paid the title fee. Basing the fees off 60% of an 65000 MSRP on a car that is 16 years old & is only really worth $2000 seems absurd. I want to hear from someone who actually pays the fees-not some kid who drives a car with the fees paid by his/her parents.

I guess reading and comprehension don't corrolate.

After each year since the car was first registered in AZ (I would assume in this case it never has), that number goes down by %16.25 until 1998, when the value decreases by %15. So for a 16 year old car, the assessed value would be around $2500. This in turn makes the title fee around $73.
