Can someone give me a guess on how much it costs to leave a pc on all day?

It has a 400 watt power supply and it will have light to medium usage for about 5-6 hours a day and the rest of the time it will just idle.

Just curuious how much it would cost.

My electric bill is around $35 a month in California and I leave my computer on all day and nite. So its probably like 25 cents a day.

I put my PC in hibernate now. It's like turning the system off. I'm gonna see what happens when I turn it back on when I get home.

In order to give an accurate estimate, you would need to tell us more about your system specs. Even though you have a 400 watt power supply, you're probably not using anywhere near 400 watts when the system is in use.

The big power users are your CPU, display, and video card, but we would also need to know how much memory and how many hard drives you have as well.

My A64 3000, 1GB, 1HDD, 1 DVD, 1 TV Tuner, R9600 uses max 105w idle 66w
My 21" Trinitron uses between 86-111w.

So around 200w peak. It cost 38cents to run the computer 24 hours.
