You have to understand that time is money. You will never buy a bag with a dyson and you can vacuum much quicker and easier with it.
So let's break it down with some personal experience.
Dyson vacuuming, per floor of a 3 story house.
15 minutes per floor, 2 minutes to empty = 17 minutes.
3 floors = 51 minutes for a full house vacuum.
Bag vacuum, personal experience again.
15 minutes per floor, 15 minutes to change bags
3 floors = 90 minutes for a full house vacuum.
Add cost of bags at 2 bucks a pop, add 6 bucks per session.
Dyson = 51 minutes total, no bag cost.
Bag = 90 minutes + 6 bucks worth of bags.
At 60 bucks an hour that time can be considered to be worth...
Less than 60 bucks with the dyson.
96 bucks per vacuum with a bag vac.
52 vacuums per year.
Dyson = 3120 dollars of time and money.
Bag = 4992 dollars of time and money.
Dyson saves almost 2000 dollars a year.

I've had both vacuums and have tested both. My sis sold her Dyson for a $100. loss after about a week owning it , to buy a Eureka like mine a week later......... We traded for a week, remember the thread?

Yes I remember.
What part of my operating expense/cost analysis do you disagree with?
I'll buy the vacuum to clean up the basement, but time is money and I'd prefer the money. Because remember time is money, money is time. They are equal.

I don't know about whether there are new versions of the other vacuums, but I've read that Hoover Mach 5 is both cheaper and significantly better than the WindTunnel reviewed in that chart. I don't remember if it's entirely due to the Fusion/Mach's use of cyclonic technology cloned from Dyson.Originally posted by: Squisher

Are all the Eurekas bagged? If you're interested in a less expensive bagless cyclonic, you may want to consider the Hoover Mach series or the Whisper. I think some of the Bissells are competitive also, but I have no direct experience.Originally posted by: evident

his numbers sound like something he pulled out of his keester. you'd have to be shoveling dirt into your house or live like pigs to go through bags like that.
as for "personal experience". we are geeks here. would we buy video cards and cpus based on some vague notion of "personal experience"? give me a break, its benchmarks and real tests. you only see how easily people fail things like blind a/b tests whether its with sodas or audio equipment to know that your "feel" of a product is rather unreliable and easily manipulated by suggestion.

Making love to my Dyson. Just got back from the ER. Apparently this mishap happens often and they know what to do.
Haven't gotten around to it.
