I bought a Dell Vostro 1500, and it has become the bane of my existence over the last few days. I had the computer delivered to my house on August 10th, but on August 13th I moved away for college.
Now, as far as I can remember, when I had my computer at home there was nothing wrong with it. Now however, I have moved in to my new apartment, and I have one main problem. For some reason, I cannot connect to the internet when using IE7. Any webpage that I try to bring up comes back as "IE cannot display the webpage". Now if I try using firefox, I can connect to the internet. The problem comes when I try to visit secured websites. ANY website that has https to begin with does not work.
So, things that I know:
-This problem does not happen to anyone else in the apartment, and they are all using wireless connections.
-This problem happens when I am using my laptop's wireless card and also when I am directly connected via ethernet.
-If I go to my campus's wireless network, I can't open any webpages in either browser
-If I boot the computer in safe mode with networking enabled, everything works fine
I've tried disabling my firewall, and my anti-virus (i have symantec corporate edition AV, with windows firewall). That doesn't help. I have ssl 3.0 enabled. I've blocked every startup program with msconfig.
I figure that there is something on my laptop, somewhere, that is blocking me from visiting the internet. It can't be my ISP, because everyone else in the apartment has perfect internet. I've had this computer for like 12, so if worse comes to worse, I think I can still return it, but I really don't want to have to do that. Can someone help me out? Sorry that this is in the wrong forum maybe, but I need help.
