Hi,
I'm looking for a good office/gaming chair for home use. I'm willing to spend up to about 800 bucks.

Any recommendations? The most important features for me are comfortable armrests and the ability to lock the seat in the reclined position.

I'm currently considering a used herman miller aeron, the secretlab titan, and even the autonomic ergochair or myochair. Looking for comments. if you have a chair that you love, please let me know.

I don't know about locking in a reclined position but plenty of chairs have adjustable tension and/or several stops for reclining.

I've had a Steelcase Gesture for a couple years now that I love. It starts at about your price limit or a little above and can easily get a good bit more expensive with some options, but I did see some used ones for about $400-600 when I was first looking. The arms on the Gesture can be positioned all over the place. You can't completely move them out of the way, like some that flip completely up or down along the back of the chair, but you can position them such that I've never had any serious issues with it.

To be honest, if you have sat in a Herman Miller Aeron and liked it, I would say without a doubt, get it. If you have not sat in one before, try and find somewhere that you can (tough in these days). I have had mine now probably for 14 years and I have never regretted it. I think I went through a "gaming chair" every 1-2 years before I bought this chair, probably spending between $150-350 a piece for a number of years, and then the foam/cushions/fabric/arms would fall apart just after the 1 year warranty and I would be looking for a new one.... Just be sure to not skimp on the Herman Miller. I know you might be tempted to buy the cheaper versions, but do yourself a favor and make sure you get the fully adjustable version (i.e. the arms can all self adjust height, and angle, and the seat angle can be changed), as it is something that can and will last you over a decade and you may find that you grow/shrink during that time and want to change some things slightly. There are also 3 sizes (or were when I bought mine), so that is why I suggest finding a place that has them to be ble to sit in one to be certain to get the right size for you (it was easy with me since I am 6'3", I simply went with the largest). Worth every penny I spent on mine.

Is a LaZBoy chair is out of the question? At least it has comfort, the padded armrests and locking levers, so all of them. But somehow I get the feeling it's not going to fly in the thread.

I love a LaZBoy chair in the living room. The problem with it is that it does not work well with a desk (meaning you are either sitting sideways to the desk, putting a lot of strain on your back/neck from always looking/working a mouse/keyboard on one side, or you are sitting back from the desk needing a large format monitor/TV and wireless keyboard with a touchpad/nib/trackball style mouse).

It might work if you have a floating computing station with a swing-arm connected keyboard/mouse surface and hanging monitor mount around the chair, but those are pretty expensive for a decent quality one that will not fall over and/or does not need to be bolted into the floor.

Herman Miller Embody if you're a big person, if you're a small person the Aeron should do just fine.

I've sat in a Steel Case Gesture and their other popular model - also decent chairs.

Top comfort is going to be Embody, Gesture next, Aeron next, and then Steel Case's lower offerings.

All top notch and top dollar options.

my littles managed to stab my aeon miller with knifes and forks while i wasnt home so i had to replace the back and the seat, my favorite chair ever. Im not exactly small (6'4 250) i would like to try a miller embody tho maybe i can shop for one on craigslist and go sit in it to see. (or what stores even carry this chair to try)?

I have one of these and like it, but the quality is not great. After 4 years the "bonded leather" is peeling off all over the place and looks nasty, and the chair has also become slightly tilted at an angle. A few leather coating bits come off on the floor every time I sit on it. It's still very comfortable and the padding itself has not flattened, and is designed to have you sit back more than a typical office chair, which makes it great for home use and games.

best thing to do is go out to a staples or a office depot and give a sit in it.

Ikea also had great chairs as well, but for a endurance long sitting chair, i think a better budget would be around 200-250.
150 dollar chairs are not so great, unless its a 300 dollar chair at 50% off.. .
