Can someone test my FTP?

Could someone try my ftp server to see if they can get inside my folder?

I am setting up a share folder for my business law class, and I've been recording the instructors' lectures to share with everyone.

Could someone test my ftp please, as I tried today but have issues accessing the folder.

I am using the latest build of Filezilla Server, I've configured the router to forward ports 20 and 21, and made the server have a static address behind the firewall. I have also disabled Windows Firewall, and made sure that no software firewalls are running.

FTP: 24.84.129.25
Username: BLAW
Password: 3100

Tried it about 5 mins ago and I get an error and subsequent reattempts get the same error.

I am frustrated... I read everything I could find on setting it up behind a firewall, and followed the instructions to setup an FTP server through the router's settings.

I can access it within the network to upload and download files, but when I access it from my school campus issues happen. I can log into the server, but I can not see the directory

Any ideas?

Maybe try setting it on a different port. Maybe the college has something in place that is filtering packets on that port. Not sure if it can be done, but when I had comcast they did some funny stuff. Once I changed the port number it cleared things up. Worth a try to see.

Using FileZilla Quick Connect I can see the 2 x wav, 2 x mp3 and one text file.

cnuke, thanks, that could be a possibility. Are there alternative ports that are a good idea for an FTP server through the router? It was weird though, because I could log onto the server, but it would not show me the contents of that directory, I would get an error message in Filezilla (ftp client not server).

Hmmm... I went to my other residence, and used the wifi connection there to access the ftp server I have setup.

This is what Filezilla said:

Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,100,0,8)
Command: LIST
Response: 425 Can't open data connection.
Error: Could not retrieve directory listing
Command: REST 0
Response: 350 Rest supported. Restarting at 0

any ideas on why I can't get into my ftp server?

I can get to it fine as well.

I think I got it.

Many Cable/DSL Routers do not allow out/in/out conncection.

I.e. If you try from within your own system to type your external address it would not get out to the Internet and come back to you from the out side.

I do not know whats wrong with your other residence, but might be that this will make you feel better.:thumbsup:

Finally! It was Filezilla (client). Under "Connections", and in "Firewall Settings" I had passive mode checked. I unchecked that, and now I can see the contents in FTP directory, and I can do it from anywhere now

Dumb ass connections - Check
Get used to it.

Asia really should be chopped off from the rest of the internet.
