Can someone who has purple or pink streaks in their hair be taken seriously?

sure. what does show a lack of intelligence is "intelligent" people that let outward appearances sway their judgment on the capacity of others...

Depends on what the rest of them looks like.

I mean that seriously. Having purple/pink streaks but looks otherwise like a sane person is fine. If they have that and are in chains and all black and spikes...then for me I'd be hesitant. But it's not 100% looks anyhow, so it doesn't matter.

yes

Not taking someone seriously that has different colored hair is just as stupid as taking someone seriously simply because they have a suit on

Depends on what they are doing. If I was getting a tatoo, then I don't think I would care about their hair as much as their portfolio. If I was looking for a optomitrist to perform laser surgery, I would be less inclined to use that person.

The more "white" color the work needed, the more towards "ordinary/natural" I would prefer.

I had hot pink hair and it didn't really seem to cause me any problems being taken seriously (I was 22 at the time)

Of course. Their hair color, to me, matters much less or doesn't matter than their overall personality and way they conduct themselves.

Can anyone?

I don't see an issue with it, especially females. I mean, Homerboy's wife does it just for me...

oh come on. you see someone wearing clothes with holes in them and covered in dirt and you aren't going to judge them? even if you feel pity for them, you are judging them.

in a perfect world, maybe....

Our outer appearance is the only way we can show ourselves off to other people without any other means of contact. So if that is what they want to show off to a certain group of people then sure it's fine...Can they be taken seriously? It depends on the situation.

they do make dye for down there. i don't see any purple though.

Oh I know... I've tried to sell her on that. No go... yet.
The (dark) purple was just more for the winter months though.

I hate this particular thought process. There is nothing wrong with judging people based on looks. There will always be those rare few that prove this statement wrong, but to say it shouldn't be a criteria at all is just naive.

Now if the rugs did match, I would just bust out laughing. Then again if there is a rug I don't put my face in it.

IMO not usually, but it depends on the situation. If they were trying to give a serious talk to a board room, maybe. If they are just my coworker/friend/somebody on the street then no I don't take them any less serious then I would somebody without dyed hair. I base it what comes out of their mouth instead of how they do their hair personally.

Then again I have thought about dying mine blue/red just for the fun of it and to change it up a bit.

Yes I do. My wife does that with her hair all the time.

Unfortunately I have seen it backfire at work. A lady here did that at one time and she had it gone within a week because of the flak she took.

what is her natural hair color and did she go completely pink or purple or just streaks?

i'll answer my own original post question. i absolutely would not have an issue with someone streaking their hair any color. on some people the different colors look very cool. i once went to a hairdresser who had black hair, and she had red as in apple skin red, streaks in her hair. it looked great on her.
i've done blonde streaks myself, but haven't ventured further.

Blonde? I think... who knows at this point. Its always something new.
Just streaks pretty much. Though in the back its pretty solid "purple"

I'll send link in PM

actually i dont really snap judge people like that. ive had plenty of times come up to test this. one time i had a guy that looked like a dumpster diver come up and ask me for a ride. normally its these guys either trying to get money off you or trying to get you away from the public eye to mug ya, but being an armed 6'3" odd looking dood myself, i like to see which one they are... turned out this guy owned his own landscape company, his truck got a flat and landed it and the 20ft trailer in a ditch and he needed help. i got him to a station and let him use my phone before i found out any of this. he gave me his card and told me to call if i ever needed a hand with anything. when i was growing up i had hair down the middle of my back about 25 or 30 inches, as well as having a mohawk and other odd hairstyles. i wore ripped up jeans and concert shirts, and generally looked like a nuisance type of punk kid. used to piss me off that people couldnt see past the outside, and i swore i wouldnt do that when i got to that age. i still remember it all, and i still look past outward appearances and try to see the person.

I would agree that the whole image needs to be taken into consideration. But as first impressions tend to be visual, strange or what would be considered out of the ordinary hair color, it is a thing that would "color" a first opinion of a person.

i didnt say it wasnt a criteria. if you are holding interviews for a professional position and someone shows up in jogging shorts and a ripped up college T id make the summation that the person wasnt seriously wanting a job. if the same person came in with a suit on and a good portfolio, but had combed hair with pink highlights i wouldnt bat an eye and would look at their portfolio.

if some bum lookin dude walks up to me in a grocery store parking lot, im not reaching for my 9mm automatically, ill exchange greetings and probably listen to his pitch. if hes just looking for cash, ill tell him the truth. no, i dont have any spare cash. i need it all. another anecdote. i had a guy walk up to me in a gas station parking lot and comment on my truck. he was wearing basic clothes, shorts and a faded blue tshirt. if i had just ignored him and went on with my day, nothing would have been different. i didnt ignore him, i said hi and we started talking. he was a contract electrician looking for a break into the industrial electrician field, but hadnt had much luck so far. i dont have any signs on my truck and i dont have any visible wire or stock in the bed, so he had no idea i was an industrial electrician/ programmer. i still talk to him on occasion, pretty nice guy. if you dont stop to take the time to see who a person is, how can you really know? i dont let outward appearance sway my judgment for the most part.
