Can the legend of Zelder games be put in any chronological order?

The timeline is all convoluted. There was an "official" timeline put out a while ago that I remember looking at but it was all jumbled and some things weren't even really canon/didn't make sense where they put them IIRC.

I choose to generally look at them as just different stories, otherwise Link needs to realize Zelda constantly getting herself kidnapped is a cry for attention or they really need to get her more/better guards.

I wouldn't really worry about order. Most of them could easily pass as alternate universe due to the inconsistency of actual sequels.

Yeah, I remember in Windwaker the premise is that "You're a boy with the same name and same look and same outfit as the hero of legend" or whatever. Forget the timeline and play them individually.

No. Don't listen to the tards who try to make a coherent timeline out of Zelda. Nintendo has never tried to make a Legend of Zelda timeline and all they're doing is retconning the events in the games. They're not meant to be interpreted as one single story. Would you try to assign a timeline to the Mario games?

The full storyline of Zelda:

- You're a kid in a green outfit
- You bomb dodongos and break pots
- You get special items from dungeons
- You kill Ganon and save the princess

End of story.

No, you are the tard.

Miyamoto has said several times that there is a timeline to zelda, and many of the games reference other games quite frequently.

There was also a statement about a dual timeline occurring from the "split" in OoT. Any real over encompassing story is completely out of whack and confusing.

I'd say don't bother with an overall story except for the direct sequels.

There is no real overall story, just a timeline.

Each Zelda game has its own story. Knowing the timeline isn't really necessary for that; it just gives you a deeper understanding of the Zelda universe.

Like y said, you should only really care about the idea of a timeline if you are a big Zelda fan.

There is no official timeline. In fact, most Zelda fans seem to think there's a split timeline after Ocarina. It's generally assumed that Minish Cap is the first game and Zelda II is the last.

Game trailers went over it a while back. Their video is worth watching.

Well the 3D games have a pretty much confirmed timeline

skyward sword > oot > mm > tp(ish) > ww > ph > st

or, if you like split timeline:
Ocarina of Time (Child Timeline) --> Majora's Mask --> Twilight Princess

Ocarina of Time (Adult Timeline) --> The Wind Waker --> Phantom Hourglass --> Spirit Tracks

I thought Twilight was in the Adult timeline and Wind Wake was in the child. I thought after MM Link tried to return and ended up getting shipwrecked on the island with the Tokay, then upon returning found Hyrule under water.

Most of the Zelda games aren't continuous like that. For example, TP happens 100 years after OoT, and WW 500.

That is why all the links are different links. For example, in WW you start off as a village boy with his grandmother wearing this http://th02.deviantart.net/images/300W/large/indyart/anime/Windwaker_Link_in_Markers.jpg

It is only later that you put on the garb of the ancient hero, which is the famous green tunic.
