I was wonder for a possible future install project if some of these cases might make installing a Lenovo ThinkCentre or ThinkStation sff motherboard possible? I would love just the components including the proprietary motherboard to a nicer, more roomer case with full size graphics card room, etc...

u can do anything with a proper dremel, and threaded metric taps so you can tap new holes to install standoff's where needed :T

The dremel will be needed to cut out the rear IO incase they dont allign, which i doubt they will, and the taps to put standoff's where needed.

Sound like the answer is more of a “NO” then a yes!

WELL ...
its more like how far you're willing to have fun.

Ive seen lot of people retrofit old mac pro's into customs and do a excellent job.

Its just, are you going to do it for fun? or to save budget on a case?

If its fun, time and cost are moot.
If its budget... well, there are better things to do to save those extra dollars.

Well I was not thinking the term “custom” to be used so figuratively! LOL!

It depends most motherboards have standard standoffs designed for ATX, MATX, Mini ITX etc. Not every hole has to match. If a few mounting positions match, then you can try some older plastic standoffs. That was common in the past. Just take the motherboard out and lightly hold it in any standard case and see if any mounting points match up.

Example: https://www.amazon.com/Aexit-Spacer...=8-6&keywords=aexit+motherboard+nylon+support

Thanks! Something I did not know not know you can buy! These are many various too simeone made of brass and other metals including plastic. Hoping the case manufacturers will have extra parts to do customizing too.

You really only need about 4 standoffs / screws to be in place. Not all of them need to be installed. It's not like the board is under any stress lol.

I will be looking at building a custom PC again in three or more years from now! Not buying anymore Lenovo Thinkstations due to the fact they do not support any future hardware advances. Better to get a gaming motherboard and have future support.

Lots of modern oem pc motherboards are MicroATX with standard mounting. Some have normal front panel io header pinouts while others you may have to Google or just figure out yourself which is not hard if you have a small flat head screwdriver and a pc led handy. It is a piece of cake honestly.
