Can this be repaired by Motorola?

Phone is a Motorola Razr V3a. I accidentally broke off the port in the back of the phone that can be used to connect an external antenna. Now I have "No Service".

I took it into my local Alltel store and they said it could not be repaired. I would have thought they were just saying that to try to sell me a new one, but they didn't suggest that, instead they said my best bet would be to try to find one at a good price on ebay or somewhere because theirs were so expensive.

I checked the Motorola site and it's not clear what kinds of physical damage they can repair. I called their support number and I don't know if the guy understood my question or not. I explained the problem and his answer was, "If it physical, yes they fix."

So does anyone know if I should bother sending this phone off to Motorola, or would I just be wasting my time and the cost of shipping and having it sent back to me?

You should contact Moto, and ask them. That's the only way to know for sure. Be sure to incluse a link to your pic.

Thanks Muadib. I did email them and was supposed to receive a response within 24 hours, but didn't. That's why I decided to try here. I finally did receive a response from them, but it was no help. I explained exactly what the problem was and attached a photo just like the one here, but this is the reply I received:

So in other words, it's just a scripted response and eventually they'll just say to send it in and they'll send it back if it can't be fixed, and no the spelling and grammar mistakes are not mine. Seems like I should be able to get a simple yes or no about whether or not it can be repaired, but apparently not.

I was just hoping that someone here had a similar experience or some experience with Motorola's repair department and could help me out.

Yeah, they make you go through the motions before you get any real answers. I just went through the same thing with Mircosoft. After 5 emails, I called them and got passed around twice until I got someone to help me.

Motorola has started getting rid of 4000 people, so it might be awhile to get help.

Wow, yeah I'd say customer service isn't going to improve after all those layoffs. I guess I'll just keep at it with the emails and try phoning some more until I get a definitive answer, hopefully.

You should definatly check ebay before you pay 75$ to repair that one. The razr was a very popular phone and now they are extremely inexpensive. You might even be able to get a brand new one for about the price it would cost to repair it.
