I don't see good reviews anywhere. I'm losing confidence.3 of 5 stars ?? Don't buy that one.

Yeah, it's $229 here in Canada. So that goes a little further over the budget yet again. I know, it's only 15 bucks away from what that UD is. But 10 bucks here, 15 bucks there...This one looks good. 173 reviews and 5 starts and $170, and its an x570 motherboard.
Are you a human?

Well, with x470, you MAY need the flashback feature,Yeah, it's $229 here in Canada. So that goes a little further over the budget yet again. I know, it's only 15 bucks away from what that UD is. But 10 bucks here, 15 bucks there...
I'm not back to square one, but I'm starting to look at x470s now because other worthwhile x570s are probably even more expensive right now.
...geez Louise...
Sure, but flashback is better than needing a 2nd gen CPU.Well, with x470, you MAY need the flashback feature,
I would really try for that other less expensive x570. ANY x570 from ASRock, ASUS or MSI with good reviews and price in CA is the way to go. You get PCIE4 and no bios update required. My brain's starting to fry from over-comparison.
Would this X570 be comparable to the best bios flashback option in a b450, or would simply going with a b450 make more sense because of the price and my needs? (I don't see a bios flashback option in an X470 that gets good reviews.)
Ok, I just feel like it's pretty universally panned online for not being very good. Plus that one we were looking at was Gigabyte.I would really try for that other less expensive x570. NOT gigabyte, anything else.Ok, I just feel like it's pretty universally panned online for not being very good. Plus that one we were looking at was Gigabyte.
I have the X470 version of that board, and it's been just fine. VRM's are a little less than I'd like, but I run everything at stock anyway so I suppose it doesn't matter. My brain's starting to fry from over-comparison.

I know. I mean, I've been on my Gigabyte for 8 years without so much as a hiccup but for whatever reason I have more confidence in the other brands. Anyway, the fact is that other than the MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS I'm mentioning -- which comes with bios flashing for the future by the way -- there isn't anything else in my price bracket getting good feedback. Have a look. Maybe that MSI X570-A? Plus if I'm being honest, I more frequently hear about problems with MSI than Gigabyte or Asus which people usually mention as the two best, most reliable.NOT gigabyte, anything else.
Yeah, I run everything at stock as well and I like that it has a little easy future protection with the bios flashback. Also, it gets high reviews consistently. The Gigabyte just looks like an affordable option that is a bit of an underachiever for what it costs. Like, I said, there is that MSI in the link at $219.I have the X470 version of that board, and it's been just fine. Looks good, forget the coverage.Ok, I've brought everything down to this combination...
- MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX AM4 AMD B450 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard
- AMD RYZEN 5 3600 6-Core 3.6 GHz (4.2 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 65W 100-100000031BOX Desktop Processor
- CORSAIR RMx Series RM650x 2018 CP-9020178-NA 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply
- G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GVKB
(Is it a dumb question whether I should get coverage for each part with Newegg?)
Yes, there was an Artic cooler or Be quiet cooler here linked somewhere for $35 or $40 that looked awesome !@tinpanalley
If it's in your budget, you may wish to consider an aftermarket HSF since the stock one is not terribly impressive.
That CPU comes with a heatsink. Its fine unless you really stress it (prime 95 or rendering, etc....)Wait, I'm confused, this is for the CPU? When you say stock one you're referring to what?
Craigslist, or your local Facebook pages are good places to sell it whole.I'm going to be replacing the first build I ever made. And I refuse to throw it out. Not just because it becomes complicated to throw out but because it goes against my limiting waste philosophies. Is there a place online that specialises in buying used as PC parts that's better than eBay? If not what options do I really have for an ATX motherboard with 16GB of RAM that still runs ok?
Wait, I'm confused, this is for the CPU? When you say stock one you're referring to what?
Yes, I mean get an aftermarket heatsink/fan for the CPU to replace the one that ships with the CPU. The R5 3600 ships with the "Wraith Stealth" cooler which is . . . functional. That's about the best thing I can say about it.
Shame cause right at release the 3600 actually had a respectable cooler that was later change if i recall?
