Can this old thing be usefull for anything at all?

Friend brought home a Micron vetix mxi server. Its a duel ppro200 with 10 2.1gig 5400rpm ultra scsi hard drives and 512 edo ram. Not sure what i'd use it for but am looking for ideas...

that's totally useful.. those CPU's aren't that bad, it would work great!

My friends use a similar system (fewer HDs though ) for a webserver. It's decently fast.

What proccessor(s) does your friend have in that system?

2 200mhz PPros. I think they're the 256kb cache versions, but I'm not sure.

Really? And it there were no real speed issues when used as a web server? What type of load were these under? I'm not ?'ing you I'm just curious.

A few dozen users. It serves up a gallery using a PHP script we wrote. Generating the initial thumbnails took a while, but really, unless you have huge loads or a giant database you don't need much cpu power.

I'm currently using an old Celeron366 as a file server, and it does the job fine!
