Can two routers be hung off of the same central router

I have three routers. I wish to use one as the DHCP server connected directly to my cable modem. I would have two PC's and two routers then plugged into this first router. I seems clear that I would use the "uplink" port on the first router to connect to one of the downstream routers, but how can I connect the first router to the third router? Note, I do not want to have a daisy chain/serial arrangement, but rather a central router with the remaining two routers connected directly to the centeral router.

Is this where a "crossover" cable is used, and would I just plug it into one of the regular ports of the first router?

Also, would I turn off the DHCP service of both the downstream routers.

Also, two of the routers are LinkSys (one with wireless support), the third is an SMC wireless router. Since all LinkSys routers are accessed through a webpage with 192.169.1.1 as the address, when I call for this page to be served up from a PC connected to a downstream LinkSys router, which is in turn connected to a second LinkSys router (the one providing the DHCP service), which router is going to respond to my request?

You mean 192.168.1.1

Correct. When you want to connect 2 standard (non WAN/Uplink port) ports on 2 hubs/routers you have to use a crossover cable.

you'll need to change the wan ip of the router from 192.168.1.1 to something else so you can access that one and still access the one that is left with 192.168.1.1
