agreed, usually a surgical team will step up, publicity is a good thing for a hosptial and/or practice.

i did see the one where the team from the us flew to Romania (IIRC) to remove the 200 tumor from ladies back....very moving and interesting stuff.

I don't think it's fair to criticize others for not being charitable enough... after all, chances are someone's going to die this year who could have been saved if you'd donated a kidney.

that's not the same. if i were a doctor or hospital admin there i would donate services to this girl.

the problem is that they can't do this for everyone- and sad as it is, this girl's condition is by no means the worst case they've ever seen. if they give $100k to everyone who needs it, they will run out of money and have to shut down, and then no one gets treatment. welcome to the downside of capitalism.

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing. What makes this girl different than all those other children suffering with other diseases and problems? Money is needed to do the operation, plain and simple. The hospital nor the doctors can sustain themselves by giving out charity work.
