Well it isn't illegal if you already own the game and are only making a backup copy.
I also agree that chances are you are NOT looking to back up games but play illegally copied games.
Maybe this is completly impossible, but I hope I can do it cause that would ROCK!!
I've never seen someone SO excited over playing their "backup" games
As for price gouging, games have been cheaper than they were 30 years ago if you adjust for inflation. Add to the fact Sony created "Greatest Hits" where any title that has sold 400,000 copies and has been on the market for 9 months can be repackaged to sell for 19.99 is great. Furthermore, Sony sells its 1st party titles at 39.99 (with the exception of SOCOM but that sucker has a headset) which is 10 dollars cheaper than the average price.
And if you games gets broken, send it in. My copy of FF8 broke (was in my backpack and the zipper was kind of open as i was riding my bike...going down a hill the case falls out and shatters) a year after I bought it - i got it replaced by only paying 5 dollars shipping and handling.
There is no excuse these days to have "backup games"
I don't see how this is any different than people copying CD's of music by downloading songs from WinMX and other programs like this. People burn these CD's all the time and then listen to them. They don't go out and BUY the CD, no they just download the song and burn it and then listen to it. All I wanted to do was to simply copy one of my PS2 games in case it got ruined. Or maybe burn one and give it to a buddy. I still don't see how giving a copy to my buddy is any different than one of you giving your friends a copy of Windows XP Pro SP1 or a copied game, or a copied Music
Admission of guilt. First of all, downloading songs and burning them IS ILLEGAL. I admit I do use Kazaa Lite, but it has led me to "discover" if you will system of a Down and just last month I bought "STEAL THIS ALBUM".
You proved my point, you want to make "copies" for your "buddy" even though he doesn't own the game. You want to give out programs that people spent a lot of time and money making because you are a unethical consumer that forces companies to jack up prices because they lose so much (Look at PC game prices...they have been steadily rising and I *sarcasm* highly doubt *sarcasm* its because of idiots downloading them)
Now who is going to stick up for him?
I just want to make a copy for my friend so he can have fun too! I don't want him to borrow mine because I don't want my copy, err original, to break and he is a really poor guy that can afford a 200 dollar Ps2 .
By the way, My friend just built a mad pc system for 1500 and I'm wondering if someone can copy me their Win2kPro Cd because he is too poor to afford it
