Can you cook?

If so what level are you?

For example beginner would be steak and eggs, pancakes, etc.
Intermediate would be pot roast, soups, omlettes.
Advanced would be home chefs (do much anything from scratch with good results - your friends come over to eat instead of eating out!).

I do the steak, eggs and omlettes thing, but I dont consider myself a "beginner" because Ive been doing that for a long time. Also, where does hamburger helper fit into this scale?

I'd like to think I'm an intermediate.

I can follow pretty much any recipe with good results, but I'm not at the point where I can come up with something from scratch. I do more baking than actual cooking (I bake my own bread).

Yup, Intermediate. Some informal training from chefs in the yachting world, and of course my mum. Otherwise mostly self taught.

Beginner. In fact if I tried to cook steak somebody would probably get food poisoning. I don't like steak so I probably wont ever make some, at least not for myself.

I am learning as I go, and trying new stuff here and there, though it's hard as I usually never feel like making a huge meal that takes hours to prepare. I did make a spaghetti sauce a while back and plan to do another.

I'm a good cook. But not a chef by any stretch of the imagination. I have no creativity or artisic ability when it comes to food. But I know my way around the kitchen and can crank out a decent plate of hearty home cooking.

eggs w/ sausage, cheese, onions, celery, spices this morning. was very good. i made bacon wraped scallops a few nights ago, we also made fresh tuna steaks recently with amazing results. the tuna was flown in that morning to salt lake, we drove back to our home in wyoming and then cooked it for dinner. we make pastas, soups, salads, all from scratch. my SO also bakes breads and other things. I am not sure if that makes us intermediate or higher perhaps?

I don't know how to answer this. I consider myself a beginner, yet there is nothing I won't try and I almost always start from scratch. I guess the thing I do that requires the most skill is baking, but even that is no great accomplishment once you understand what consistencies/textures you are looking for and how to alter the recipe to get what you want.
