Intermediate I suppose, I just finished a huge bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup. It was tasty and now I'm stuffed.

I think I'm pretty decent at making things like scrambles, stroganoff, alfredo (though the sauces are from mixes), fish, and stuff like that. I haven't done much baking, but do want to try making cookies or cheesecake.

I'm just not very good at thinking of new dishes to make.

Very advanced. I've been known to put hours and hours into making ....

cold cereal.

just kiddin

Seriously my best dish is beef ravioli from scratch. Lot of work involved in that but it's to die for. I tried chef boyardee beef ravioli and...lets just say it tasted like plastic in formaldrehyde sauce, which motivated me to make my own. They have cheese raviolis in the frozen food section at the local supermarkets but no one seems to have beef ravioli.

Anyone know where I can get some GOOD frozen beef ravioli so i don't have to slave for hours on end making my own?

Where do you live? If you're in/near Philly, P&S is the best brand of frozen pasta. Great stuff and they do have both meat and cheese ravioli and tortellini.

If not, Costco does carry some decent meat ravioli in the fresh pasta section. Right now, mine has beef short rib ravioli. I won't lie, there's no hint of short rib in there, but they are above average and should probably just be called "beef"

If so what level are you?

For example beginner would be steak and eggs, pancakes, etc.
Intermediate would be pot roast, soups, omlettes.
Advanced would be home chefs (do much anything from scratch with good results - your friends come over to eat instead of eating out!).

Post pics of your favorite dish - prepared by yourself of course!

So OP, do you cook yourself??.

Not near Philly, so I'll try Costco, thanks

Honestly, though, you might be better off buying the pasta pre-made. Some Italian places will sell it to you. Then make your own filling -- braise some short ribs or a cheap chuck roast with some aromatics. Make the ravioli yourself from that.

It's easy, but takes some time. Once you went home made, nothing else will compare.

I'd say intermediate. However, I can cook just about anything with the right ingredients, tools, and recipe. What I want to get good at is just "whipping !@#% together" and having it taste good.

I am a very good cook.

I am at my best when cooking budget meals. I am working on a website for this very thing.

I have numerous threads about the recipes I have made.

Rubycon, I probably don't count for your poll as I'm a professional Chef but, in my generation, your version of "intermediate" was viewed as minimum knowledge before leaving home.

Not sure where I fit in. I can do steaks/chicken/porkchops no problem, here's a few pics of some recent cooks:

"Honey, what's for dinner? I'm getting hungry." and food magically appears...

I used to cook fairly well. I started into a culinary arts program, but gave it up when I found out that I could make more operating heavy equipment than I could operating a stove...Yes, the top chefs make big bux...but they're the exception...most "cooks" make very poor wages.

Nice smoke ring on that brisket (or whatever cut of meat it actually is, I'm no BBQ expert) Mel! THe ribs look perfect. Just enough scorch to taste awesome!

Beginner I guess. Certainly enough that I don't need anyone to cook for me. lol

I can actually bake better than I can make meals. I've done everything from brownies to baklava from scratch.

I can't cook that well, that's what a wife is for. She's somewhere between intermediate and advanced.
