Soundtrack to "Katsuhiro Otomo's Memories" is one of my favorites.

Also, Rammstein.

Completely opposite.

Lots of epic music has Latin and other languages I don't understand. Gladiator soundtrack comes to mind.

Hans Zimmer's African-influenced stuff in other movies is also excellent.

I like Japanese pop songs from video games... and that Spanish song in Kill Bill. That's about it, mostly Japanese songs. No clue what any of them are about.

A lot of this stuff is nice (though some of the links don't work anymore) but how the heck do you guys find this stuff? I still can't even figure out how to get the characters to show up on my computer (all I see is squares). And then what if you want to get a quality copy of the song? My friend has a huge list of foreign songs (several good ones) and he has asked me a few times if I could find them, since I have a fairly large collection myself. But everything I have is basically crap american stuff (I only have like 40 good songs) that's easy to get. I can go to a garage sale and pick up 100 CD's for a dollar...but I almost never find anything good (I've got like 50 disks of Green Day, ugh).

Start with something you like. Go to the iTunes store and search for the song or group you like and then listen to the "Listeners also bought" suggestions. Branch out following the chain of "listeners also bought" links. You'll probably find more stuff you like. You'll also discover that all roads lead to Enya,

Sure. I never listen to lyrics anyway. The vocals usually come across as just another instrument to me. It's one of the reasons I think I enjoy metal so much. Usually you can't make out many words amongst the screams and growls in stuff like In Flames or Opeth anyway.

I'd even go so far as to say that I think music that focuses too heavily on the meaning of the lyrics as its main attraction probably isn't as good from a purely musical perspective. All that makes me able to easily accept music that is in a language I don't understand.

This.

Produced music like Linkin Park can sound good, but the stupid lyrics are so irritating that I can't stand to listen.

Considering 95% of the music on the radio here is English (which is a foreign language here) i would say yes .
Other than that I have a few german (mainly ramstein) french, Japanse and korean songs on my playlists.

Rammstein

guttural German just adds metal flavor

Ordinarily I'm not into that type of music but some of their stuff is melodic and enjoyable. I don't care what they're saying, its more about the feeling.
"Treeeee frooooog, treee frooooog!" ♫♪
whatever lol
