Yep. Though they sound surprisingly more alike then when I've downloaded other music at the same bitrates and compared.

I have studio monitors for speakers so I got it right. It had more depth. Although had it not been a side by side, prolly would not have been able to notice.

In this recording I had difficulty, but in many others it's been easy to tell the difference for me. I had several 128kbps mp3 albums that were later replaced with 320kbps versions and those played side by side were easily identifiable.

128 is generally pretty obvious.

Nope, got it wrong, but I think it was because of the style of music. If it was a thrash or death metal song with plenty of cymbal abuse the difference would have been very clear.

EDIT: And of course, with 50:50 odds it's a meaningless test anyways. It should include at least several different songs.

I got it right, but had to do several listen throughs. What gives it away is the cymbals (or whatever they are) at the end are noticeably more shallow at 128kbps. The problem is the guy singing loudly was enough distraction to throw me off requiring several listen-throughs.

High quality bit rates are generally far more important when it comes to subtleties on the high and low end, when there's a lot of loud mid-range it becomes less important. At least thats the way it is for me.

Even on some really nice Grado headphones that my friend has, after 320kbps MP3s, I stop being able to hear the difference.
