I never did master capital Qs. They don't look anything like a Q when written correctly. Same with capital Z.

my mother's handwriting is EXACTLY like this. Always. She never prints anything, and it looks exactly like this. shout out to the all-girl school nuns threatening..i mean, teaching her back in the day.
no one can read my handwriting, it is a mish-mash of cursive and print, and i am a lefty so it looks even more like shit and possibly gets smeared. but im old enough that i can still read the ancient texts of yesteryear. you know, cursive.

there was one recorder in a town i was interested in who wrote his letters at like a 30 degree angle instead of a 90 degree angle. all his letters were squished flat. and i had to skim through years worth of his stuff to find the will i cared about.
I was taught to angle the letters to the right about 30 degrees off vertical. I think the teachers wanted to make writing even harder for lefties.

When I see people's signature I generally take a good look at it, see what it says about them. Nowadays, the great majority of signatures are thoroughly illegible. Mine varies considerably. If I am pretty sure that nobody is even going to glance at it, I just scribble my name in a second or two. If it's something I care about and am not sure of the outcome and am concerned, I am careful to make my signature legible.

I had a temporary job for a while working with 3 women (they were not temps). Our job was to pull out all the bad checks from the thousands of checks that came into local banks every day. We did this all day long. It was something like 30 years ago. I think it wasn't a private bank but a federal bank that got all the checks from local banks delivered to them in boxes.

I had another temp job in which we investigated welfare fraud for the county.
I had a real signature up until I joined the military. Ain't nobody got time for legible signatures in the military.

I hope it was worth it.
I'm trying to establish a water right to the spring on our land. In Arizona, the game is to document the earlier date water was put to use as water rights are, "first in time, first in right." Water from the spring was used for quarrying rock on a mining claim. The earliest mining claim (the page I was searching for) is from 1896, pushing the water right claim date back by twenty five years from the previous earliest documented date we could find. It's been a weird mix of finding mining claim paperwork, newspaper article/ad hunting, and graveyard visits to establish the date. The mining claim was used for mining gravestones. As things stand, the mining claim is 1896, the earliest newspaper article mentioning the stone is 1899*, and the earliest gravestone is 1911. We now need to find earlier gravestones made from the rock from the claim. The rock is distinctive so is easily recognized in a cemetery. With the 1896 date, we would have the second oldest water right in the watershed.

* Small town newspapers back then were starved for news so visits from the "big city" gravestone cutters would get a mention.
