Can you recycle envelopes with plastic windows?

I'm not that stupid. I stuck it in one of my neighbor's bins hoping no one would see it. When the recycle guys came to pick it up, they found the envelope and got pissed. They filed a complaint with the local PD, who later investigated. When my neighbors said it wasn't theirs...

Yes, you can recycle it. In fact there is a grade of recycled paper that is designated Plastic Window Envelope or PWE for short. The price of PWE tracks with Mix Paper prices. It makes a difference if it is preconsumer or post consumer PWE. Preconsumer is definitely more valuable. Current prices for post consumer PWE are in the $60-70 per short ton range, whereas preconsumer is priced at around $90-100 per short ton. Basically, allot of mindless drivel unless you trade in the market.
