I've tried to learn some Spanish & Japanese, but haven't been in right environment that keeps me involved with the language. I still brush up on something every now & then. But taking some classes & being in an environment where the language was regularly spoke would help a lot with learning & remembering.

Spanish and Japanese... Move to Bolivia! :awe:

i can can also read a good deal of any given romanic language, due to the latin knowledge, and make up romanic talk that speakers of said languages will understand, even if its not correct, but made up from latin and some knowledge about the language i´m trying to speak

Staade ist falsch (I just looked it up).

Der name is eigentlich Stade.

(Damn, is it strange to see every word you type underlined in red.)

I can speak English but it's not really a foreign language since it's Canada's other main language.

isnt it the language that like %90 of canada speaks, except one rogue province that refused to leave the past behind and in doing so made things more difficult for everybody?

Even here in GA, USA, some products come from distributors that also distribute in Canada and have French language covering half the package. English/Spanish would be far more useful around here; where Spanish is the second most common language and most of the Spanish-speaking folks don't know any English.

I remember looking at first-party Nintendo Wii/DS games and noticing that some retailers had dual-language English/French packages for the same title that another retailer has in English-only.

English and Spanish for every day communication, English and French for reading, English and Mandarin for business.

I use to be able to speak German.
I was at friend's house when his family changed in speaking German. It took them a few minutes before they looked at me and I told them I spoke German. Kind of funny to watch their faces.

I can speak a "little" Czech. Enough to get by if I had to, though most native speakers would laugh at my choice of words and poor grammar.

Pretty sad. My father is almost a polyglot - he speaks, reads and writes 7 languages (English, French, German, Russian, Czech, Polish, Slovak) with near perfect fluency.

Pfff... You'll never get your dual English/Spanish packaging until one of your states constantly threatens to secede to, they say, protect their cultural heritage. Oh, and this state must be mostly Spanish speaking with language protection laws and police.

My boss is conversationally fluent in about 10 languages.

Most Europeans graduate high school with near fluency in about 3 languages.

American kids are doomed as such on the world stage.

what could it be?
probably some israelian security or foreign policy thing
might be trade
but given the isreaelian threat level my bet is on security
polish, russian, german and hebrew would be for jewish heritage reasons, and because these languages are all spoken in israel
anyway impressive
