can you test a mobo without using a case

I don't wanna have to remove all of my components out of my current system just so i can put another mobo in for testing. Is there a way I can just hook up the PS, mobo, and a video card outsite of the computer?

Sure you can, just grab the parts you need and plug them all in. I've heard of people regularly running their systems with no case at all. Yes, it is safe as long as your not setting the motherboard on the carpet or otherwise doing something silly like that.

Yes, you don't need a case at all. As long as the cables reach and everything, you're fine. Just make sure you do it somewhere where it's not going to attract static electricity -- perhaps on one of those static-proof bags?

Yes. Don;t worry. I do it all the time out of the case. I don't sit it on no anti-static bag.

but not a smart move w/ new stuff
just use the antistatic bags
