Canada, eh?

I saw the 'Where would you like to live' thread and it got me wondering: Are there any people here who live or have lived in Canada (especially near Vancouver/Victoria)?

I been in the cities mentioned above for a couple days but I'd like a more experienced POV.

So, Canadians & ex-Canadians, What do you think of the country overall?

I took a road trip through canada this summer and driving through that country is boring, lots of open fields north of toronto. We went to a place called wasaga beach north of toronto, took along time in between those places. Canadian drivers are crazy.

I live in Vancouver and loves it. Other than the rain, it is a great city to live in.

THe country kicks ass. Of course I'm living in the states right now because I like money and if you live in Canada you won't get much. Compared to the US the economy in canada is sad. Less jobs, less incomes, more taxes, weaker dollar, etc. Money isn't everything - unless you're 23 with student loans in which case it is. I'll likely eventually move back to Canada but the economy has set me off so badly that I'm in no rush.

Vancouver and Victoria are beautiful cities. I have also been to Toronto and I was very impressed with the diversity of culture that exists there.

i spent 5 years in ontario/vancouver/calgary hope i'm not mixing stuff up i was a kid though, so hard to compare i wouldn't leave california though

LOL, Wasga's about an hour north of T.O. Course, if you went there on a weekend, I was probably one of those "crazy bastards" that cut ya off.

It's all a matter of what's important to you in the way of comfortable living.

It is a safe country to live in, socialized medicine is not half bad, people are (usually) able to get good work and paid well, pleasant and polite, 4 seasons are nice.
You wouldn't catch me within 1000 miles of Canada if I hadn't married a Canuck, though. Poor little tropical flower like myself has zero ability to withstand the cold
I just don't know how people who live further up north can do it!

Im in Calgary too and the low Canadian dollar for most of "us" sucks but it does benefit exporters.

I don't think that I will ever live anywhere (permanently) other than Vancouver. I love it here. Let's see...reasons why I like Vancouver:

1) It never snows. Rarely gets below freezing.
2) Diverse cultural background.
3) Very clean here.
4) Very safe here.
5) Close to the US border.
6) Has some of the best mountain biking trails in the world.
7) Great scenery.
8) In the spring, where else can you go snowboarding and to the beach in the same day.
9) Fine looking women.
10) Has some fine herb.

Of course, I'm slightly biased seeing as I haven't travelled much in my short 22 years on earth.

I live in Victoria and I love it. Snow is rare, rain is good, and it's beautiful all year long.

Vancouver is nice, rains too much for my liking though.
I've never lived there, but my bestfriend and a cousin both do.
Canada is a good place to live overall.

The other day a couple of those Thompson polar bears wondered through my back yard here. Stupid animals, I threw an old puck at one and it took of into the bush. Good thing I had my toque on, if he woulda chased me it was a long run back to the main house.

Canada sucks. I live in Edmonton and when people who actually live here have a nickname of DEADmonton for their own city, u know it sucks. There's a reason I HAVE to goto So. Cal. every summer for at least a month. Calgary and Vancouver are nicer, but in the end, ur Canadian $$ is still worthless.

Although our currency is pretty weak, most products and services
cost a lot less than they do in the US.
