seriously this is now getting sad and embarrassing as this is not democracy anymore

Uh, there'd be nothing unelected about the coalition government. Remember, you don't vote for a party or the PM, you vote for your MP.

Not unelected but more like lacking a mandate from the public; after all the Tories won almost half the seats in the parliament.

The Bloc has said they will not be part of a Coalition government. So it would only be the NDP and Liberals, which is a lot less than half and the numbers that the Tories have.

True, but the Bloc could support the formation of the coalition. Thus more MPs would favour something other than the Conservatives.

It's all stupid anyways. The Conservatives should just stop making everything a confidence vote and get on with trying to govern the country.

Obviously the Liberals don't want to force another election now, being in debt, on the verge of a leadership vote and with a broken campaign. The conservatives know this and are pushing the issue...

Looks like the NDP wants one third of all cabinet ministers including finance and environment ministers.

Dion as prime minister and NDP finance minister would insure a Conservative majority; this could be a very well calculated move by Harper.

Not dropped but postponed.

I personally consider the Conservatives to be a bunch of scum bags, slightly more-so then the Liberals, the NPD are useless, I'm not in Quebec and the Green Party are a bunch of hippies.

Oh and 2008 Canadian election results.

Go Marxist-Leninist party!!! (j/k)

The Marxist/Leninist Ads were kinda funny. They had this odd weird Uncle kinda thing going on. I see they edged out the equally kooky Libertarians though.

One of my undergrad physics TAs was running for the Communist party two elections ago.

This was a waste of time and a major black mark in my books against the Conservatives. They had better knock this crap off and get busy with what's important.

Crap like what Harper tried to pull actually makes him look like a Fascist.

Then he even had the nerve to call the other parties "undemocratic" for forming a coalition against him!

This is the turning point. The Conservatives are going down, and the Liberals are on their way up with a new leader.

While this may look bad on Harper for those into politics...most Canadians will look at this as a power grab by Dion/Liberals/NDP.
Perceptions of the general pubic is key...Harper looks pretty clean on this one...

Why do you think people will see Harper as innocent on this? He wanted to remove public funding for political parties and effectively bankrupt everyone but the Conservatives.

You are so partisan in your views that I will never put any credence in anything you post here. You are just like the Republicans in the south that vote for them no matter what.

At least Yllus was reasonable enough to see the problem with what Harper just tried to do.

The other parties aren't going to bring them down over nothing.

I would rather the liberals get their act together by the next "normal" election rather then lead a new coalition government right now, that would be a disaster IMHO. My two worst fears is between the NDP and Liberals they will screw up our economy and yank all our troops out of Afghanistan. If today the Liberals replaced Dion they might do well on their own but the NDP are going to start drilling holes in the ship first chance they get with Dion handing them fresh drill bits.

I'd like to see the Conservatives b**** slap the Liberals a bit more but not a punch under the belt.

Nah, California is more important.

I object. We are important. Consider the following:

Canada is the top source of US crude oil imports.

How about that!!!

Not if we look at their current liquidity, their current chief and the results of the last election.

You. Got. It. All. Wrong.

There will be election in Spring of 2009, provided that this coalition bring down Harper's government.

It's a bullshit move by Harper, whether it 'works' or not.

I can hardly believe the ass-crappery coming from Jim'n'Steve, and have even more trouble believing that reasonably intelligent folks like you are lapping it up!

I said that California is MORE important and it is...anyways, nice display of the well known Canadian inferiority complex.

Nice to know there are still Americans who view the rest of the world and think "na na na na I'm bigger than you". Might be true but you're still an asshole.

The Lieberals just want to get back to power so they can fill envelopes with cash and bail out their broke party a tax payers expenses. I guess when you are entitled to your entitlement like the Lieberal it just makes sense.
