Canadian Legal obligation question

To start this off I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Kay, I'm in Grade9 and a group of about 10 girls got the dumb$hit idea to go and get high at lunch hour. They come back totally baked but most of them are used to hiding it around teachers. Well one of our teachers found out about it, but if any teacher wouldn't say anything about it, its him. Is he legally required to go to the police with his knowledge of the fact they did drugs?

This is not intended to be flame bait... I just want to know if he is legally required to goto authorities...

I'll bump this once because I'm quite curious if these people are going to get busted for their stupidity or not...

He's not any more legally required to go to the police than you are.

If you're so upset by the fact that a few people smoked some weed at lunch, you're welcome to report them to the police.

I'm not upset actually. Some of them happen to be my friends and I want to know if there going to get in trouble for it. I really don't want to see them caught.

no, even if he did report them, I'm almost possitive that the cops can't do anything. I'm not sure about in Canada but in the US, unless you get caught with paraphenalia or weed on you, the cops can't do anything

Legally doubtful. Morally? Undoubtedly. Unlike you he is in a position of guidance and as an adult in his position he does them no service to let it slide.

Now that's in an ideal world. If I was a teacher I'm not sure I'd report a bunch of girls for getting high. Afterall I've done it before and so have most adults; it's not a big deal in small amounts. COurse with this attitude maybe I'd make a bad teacher?
