Incidentally, the Taser is lower on the force continuum than the baton is. So, the Taser was not designed to 'replace' the baton, and it is a lower level of force than the baton, and as such would, in most cases, be deployed prior to the baton.

alternative / replacement ... semantics.

you have just shown my point though. The taser came out because too many officers were quick on giving a beat down with their 'stick'. Now they just whip out the taser as soon as the perp asks 'excuse me can you repeat that'.

Nice sidestep. There is a significant difference between replacing something entirely and having an alternative. The Taser came out because it's a highly effective tool and very successful at reducing both officer and suspect injuries. What do you do, make this stuff up as you go?

And no, wrong again.

no sidestep. You are obviously defending your fear and need of more weapons.

How about elaborating more?

The taser is an alternative to the baton, you are basically stating that and the reasons above, however; cops are using it too soon and without regard to the surrounding/situation. It's not a harmless weapon.

Your kind of blind following is why it's so easy for the departments to bilk the public out of major money.

I suggest you step back from your fear and assess the situation better.

Regardless of your claims, there is a substantial difference between an alternative and a replacement - the very definitions are quite different. The Taser can be deployed in a situation as an alternative to another tool, yes. However, it is not designed to outright replace other tools. It is an alternate method.

You want me to elaborate more on what?

Ah, so now I'm a 'blind follower'? I guarantee you that I am much more familiar than you are with any given item on a duty belt.

I've worked without having access to OC, Taser or Baton (small under-funded and undertrained department), yet I still did my job. You take your 'fear' claims elsewhere.

If you're able to use straight reasoning rather than twisting words, making assumptions, and blindly attacking other people, maybe we'll get somewhere. However, you're really not impressing me at all.

I am sure you are, just based that any photo with you in it posted here has your gun in it.

Nice job - you didn't address anything that I posted. But hey, that's about par for your course, so I'm not surprised.

Oh, and you're wrong (again). There have been gun-less pics. Several, in fact. Come to think of it, I seem to recall posting gun pics in...wait for it...gun threads! It's no surprise, then, that firearms would be involved.

Like that thread of your apartment with your gun in every room/shot.

I know how you roll, you obviously don't how I do.
