It's one thing to use Apache Helicopters and uavs with Hell fire missiles on people that ride mules, but when Russia walked into Georgia, your ALLIES in the NEW Europe (as Rumsfeld said), not a peep.

Yes, because potential war with Russia is such a good idea.

Maybe. The CG here is only tasked to do research, and search and rescue. All the other stuff is the navy.

Plus I think most of this stuff is procured with an idea of what USA can provide if any situation does arise.

From what happened in Libya I'd say most of NATO does procurement with an idea of what the US can provide in a hot situation. Kind of annoying really. Even if they do eventually pay us for it.

That and supercarriers rarely travel alone.

And yeah I'll admit it's a sizable force, and I guess no other navy can really hope to compare against the combined USN (just stating a fact). But still, most of it is going to be a glorified Canadian coast guard. Maybe you'll hunt down some pirates, but the only real action the Canadian Navy is likely to see is eventual confrontation with Russia, and that will likely be defensive in nature.

No. We could in theory wage war against Denmark. They are trying to steal Hans Island from us, those wooden shoed cheese eating dope smokers.

Yes, because potential war with Russia is such a good idea.

And regardless of good ideas or not - this shit we've been dealing with is below us and because of that, we struggle mightily because we have difficulty tackling it in the manner we've had to (guerrilla/urban-type warfare has never been our strong suit).
In contrast, large Armies clashing, that's a whole different ballgame.

Either way, Russia has the enthusiasm and balls, but lacks the economy to sustain a large war effort. Even returning to old Stalinist ways, they'd crumble under their own weight if they attempted to sustain a conflict that was anything other than a brief protracted and surgical strike.

Aren't you worried the same could be said of the USA's military presence in the world. Largely subsidized with borrowed money from the Chinese. HUGE HUGE depts being piled on.. some of those stories about how many highways and bridges and schools you could build with just a fraction of the military budget being cut drives even me crazy and I'm not even and American.

Yea, it's bullshit. The military should be used for conquest, and defense, not the bullshit police work we do.

Yeah, I read a report by a West Point General who said counter-insurgency could work... if we were willing to stay there for 80 years.

The only truly successful nation-building effort to date IMO has been Japan, and that was because:
1. We threatened to nuke them from orbit (effectively)
and
2. They were already a homogenous culture united under 1 government.

In Afghanistan and Iraq, we are:
1. Threatening to, at absolute worst, contain them and ask that they go away.
and
2. They are split into myriad clans who have as much loyalty to each other as I do to the squirrels outside, if that.

Oh the horror. Will you be deploying the tank? Looks like it could hold the island all by itself.
Don't laugh. A few years ago Denmark invaded that Island and left a bottle whiskey and a Danish flag for the Canadians right in the middle there somewhere. So our Prime Minister sent 200 troops to go retrieve it...yeah, it's not our best moment.

OH God, now it's Escalated to a GOOGLE FIGHT!

"Google fight" or "Google war" is the name given to a number of advertisements on the Internet search engine Google which promoted either Danish or Canadian sovereignty over Hans Island."

You guys better hurry up with those F35s we bought.

They aren't going to fend off the Russians. Canadians have no backbone or independent streaks.

Canada: Hey guys . . . guys, that stuff is ours.
Russian: Back off, we got big guns.
Canada: <OK Guy meme>
Which country lost to third world countries, such as Vietnam, Somalia, and Afghanistan?
And, which spineless country burn down America White House?

American superior warships couldn't defend its aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk vs. Chinese Song Class sub.

There are only two types of ships: submarines, and targets!

I just googled Denmark, and a Nation called 'Denmark' did show up, on page 4 or 5, I think it was.
Apparently you ARE a member of NATO so you're safe for now (and probably why you're so smug) but if you fail to make a payment of your club dues you can expect a bully beat down. You can even bring your back up Holland (Bahahah) and we'll bring our back up AMERICA! and we'll settle as peacefully as possible.

I promise, at the end of this ummm. police action, you will be at peace.

In all fairness, that is a pretty cool kayak.

Cool looking, maybe, at first.
But, as a kayak, that thing sucks:
First, it would be very awkward to paddle with things that high in front of your chest (and his posture looks like this is true.) But more importantly... no cup holder for beer.

You never know - that superstructure could be a cover for the cooler. Even if its not the ability to sink other kayaks from beyond paddle range would be entertaining

Lol, yeah the US is weak; that's why the entire of NATO refused to go to battle against libya until the US decided to participate.

Why would Canada need to have a large military? They don't piss off the rest of the world like the US does and therefore need to spend trillions defending itself.
