But let's put it this way, if such a protest happened I don't think it would get as much support as this one did. There's a bunch of pro mandaters that tried to start a gofundme and they got about $1,000 in donations last I checked. It might be higher now, I don't remember the link or what it was called so can't find it. Most of the donations were people donating 5 bucks so they can leave a comment to troll them. The pro mandate people seem very vocal but they are not as popular as they think. Most of us actually want to go back to normal and that includes vaccinated people like me so we will support the truckers 100% for what they are fighting for.

There is protest and there is civil disobedience. The difference is that with civil disobedience, one knowingly and willfully breaks laws. Both are useful tools for societal change. However, if one is not willing to get cuffed and stuffed, one should stick with protesting and stay away from civil disobedience. Historically, civil disobedience has been expressed through open defiance of the laws one views as unjust. In the case of the truckers, they didn't do that. They simply made asses of themselves in a criminal manner. Staging a maskless sit-in in the Parliament Building would have been reasonable civil disobedience. Refusing to show vac passports where the law required would have been reasonable. Blocking the streets and blockading the ports was stupid, pointless, hooliganism (yells at clouds).I'd still be against it, they still have the right to protest. Its not because they disagree with their views it's because they are shutting down the city.Nobody should be ok with the government at this point no matter which side they're on. The fact that the government can just freeze your money, arrest you, and send in military police if they don't agree with your views is a very dangerous thing that should not be accepted. That is the sort of thing I would expect in China and it's sad to see that it's happening here too.
Trudeau has literally said it himself that he admires China's dictatorship, and he is acting exactly like a dictator right now with his ridiculous emergency order. He refuses to talk or reason with anyone and has even walked out of parliament at least twice.
The police are the ones causing violence at the protest, including trampling people with their horses. Sickening to watch this happening in my own country.
Instead of just dropping the damn mandates and getting the country back to normal Trudeau wants to play hard ball and work against the people and harm them, and some people are chearing it on, it's sickening. We are literally watching the rise of a dictatorship. This is how it happens. They use the media to lie and gaslight people and manipulate them, and then slowly add more and more rules that seem small, but all add up over time, and squash anyone that tries to fight it.
Anyone who has watched live streams and 3rd party media from people who are actually there would know the protest has been peaceful and does not warrant this amount of force.
The convoy did get some progress done though, as lot of provinces have actually did a 180 and decided to drop mandates. Even Ontario and Quebec. Quebec had some of the most draconian rules and even they decided to listen.
The future of this country seems grim though, really don't like where things are headed especially knowing they can just freeze your bank accounts if they don't agree with you or how you spend your money, and the idea of digital ID is still looping in the air. Even though some provinces have dropped it I have a bad feeling it's coming at the national level. It's insane that anyone would be ok with that. It's yet even more surveillance and control.
