Been following this for the past few weeks, since it started. The media is barely covering it and when they do it's a smear campaign.

The protest has started some very interesting political moves too and the movement is growing.

Off top of my head:

- O'Toole is out of conservative party. Interim leader Candice is a breath of fresh air. Wish she was actually running as PM. Pierre is still better than O'Toole though.

- At least 4 liberal members have ranked with Trudeau

- Saskatchewan lifting all mandates

- Alberta lifting all mandates

- Unfortunately some places are going the other way and adding MORE mandates in spite. Such as BC.

- There's talks that Ontario is looking into removing some mandates... but Ford is a hard ass like Trudeau is so I don't trust anything yet.

- Most TV doctors/officials etc are also calling for lifting mandates. Even Dr. Tam is calling for it.

Probably missing some stuff.

Long story short, people want their lives back. This is not just about trucker mandates it's about ALL mandates, lockdowns, restrictions, QR code/social credit system etc. People are fed up. At least, most people... there still seems to be lot of covid cultists who never want to go back to normal and seem to enjoy this "new normal" for whatever reason. I really don't know what they get out of it.

This is for the doctors that are going unheard.
This is for all the front line workers, delivery trucks, grocery store clerks, PSWs who are constantly working overtime etc.

The trucker convoy has brought Canada together more than Trudeau ever has or will. Some people showed up just because they wanted family time together as Canadians. They even had bouncy castles and food trucks, it's practically like a Canada Day event.

There's been lot of live streams too, here's one of them to skim through but there's tons on Youtube if you just search for freedom convoy, it's not violent or racist like the media is trying to portray.

In the end I don't know if it will get us back to normal, but it's better than sitting down and doing nothing. It sure has lot of people talking all around the world and the movement is growing. The government is hating it though and will do everything to try to stop it, except for lifting all mandates. Trudeau did not even want to speak with his own caucus and when he did, he walked out at least twice so far in meetings. He works for the WEF and UN more than he works for us and has his own agenda of the direction of the country. He has to go. Then again most politicians these days are globalist puppets. Really not sure what will happen in the end but it is a bit concerning what they are pushing. And not enough people are pushing against. There should have been a mass protest like this 20 years ago when they started to implement all the mass surveillance stuff. The government is constantly gripping the people harder and harder and too many people either don't care, or actually support it. It's like taking a link off a dog's chain every day. Dog won't realize until it's too short. That's what the government has been doing to us for decades. This time, people are fighting and it's great to see.

What are you trying to say with that graphic?

What I see is that compared to the number of available ICU beds, the increase in the number taken up by COVID patients is very significant. It suggests without the increase in COVID patients there would be about 2/3 more ICU beds available at the later dates in that graph.

It's clearly putting a squeeze on the remaining 'available' ICU places.

The final pie chart shows that about equal number of vaccinated and unvaccinated people are in ICU with COVID, but as you say yourself, the unvaccinated are only 20% of the population, so they are over-represented in ICUs by a factor of 2.5.

I just don't get how you think that graphic supports your argument. It seems to me to just be more evidence that people not getting vaccinated is causing big problems.

But yeah they should have really toned that down as it only end up pissing off people, and that can't be good for hearing either for those around.

At this point I think they need to leave since it's a matter of time until the government does something very drastic against them like taking their children which I heard rumours of, but they need to make it known that they are not done. We should be shifting more to rail anyway because it's a cleaner form of transit. While we're at it, we should lay more rail, reactivate freight delivery spurs, and electrify the shit out of all of it to make it even cleaner.

Warehousing companies seem to be thinking more about rail spurs more these days. Trucking has a lot of issues that predate COVID but have been made much worse by it. If the railroads move, even slightly, away from their irrational obsession with operating ratio they could recapture a big chunk of the market.

Looks like GM has already started flying some parts. You can bet they're looking at rail for anything too heavy/expensive to airlift.

I'm pro getting the country healthy. Truckers spending a lot of time bitching about mandates when 90% are already vaccinated.
