this thread sucks.

anyway, I'm voting Conservative.

why:
Liberals: They've been in for too long, need someone to balance them out. Sponsorship scandal doesn't help, especially since Paul Martin was the finance minister, and should have known where the money he was dishing out was going.

NDP: No chance in hell of forming a government, and I don't like their platform

Green: see above

marijuana: ha!

CHP: Church and state should not mix.

Conservative: Tax cuts are a plus, our milatary is awful (though I don't think we need a huge military, we do need something), plus I'm fairly right wing in my thinking, so these guys fit the bill best for me. I'm still not quite sure why they are branded as too religious. Personal beliefs are not always manifested in the government. Look at Winnipeg, they had a gay mayor for the last 4 or so years, and the city isn't all rainbow and purple triangles now. Murray seperated his life from his political stance, I believe that those who are in the conservative party will do likewise.
Then again, I oppose most voluntary abortions and also would vote against marriage being redefined. But hey, that's the beauty of democracy, right? We can disagree and still accept each other's points of view.

Glad to see we're now back on track and discussing the CANADIAN ELECTION.. no thanks to Mill et al.

Keep the discussions coming guys, it's interesting to see other people's points of view. As Kenazo said, that's the beauty of democracy!

RyanSengaraI was done with this thread, but you had to keep personally attack me.

1. Post a link that says your telecom service and internet services are superior. I have a 3mbit/384 line for 39.95 a month, and that's in a state not known for its technology.

2. Post a link that says we're not the number 1 when it comes to Pharmaceuticals. That's simply undisputed. There is no place even close. I'd hazard to guess that at least 90% of all new drugs orginate here.

3. Your election is about Americans. Most of you have mentioned that you feel the liberals will not bend over for Bush, and that is a plus for you voters.

4. I was out of the thread, but you couldn't leave it alone. Sadly, not a SINGLE Canadian in this thread(minus GL and sully) have actually tried to be rational or post INFORMATION/facts about the situation at hand. You're a lousy debater and a spoiled kid that has never worked a day in his life.

I assume this is not an attack as well? FYI, your information/facts are useless to our situation at hand. We're the ones electing, not you. So buzz off? :disgust:

Are you an american? Oh ya you are, so check out of this thread thanks.

Edit: I'm totalling venting here because this is exactly why I dislike most americans SO much. Maybe you people don't realize it but you live up to the negative stereotype that is commonly projected and percieved by the rest of the world.

What? Why? Lots of people chime in on the US elections. I see no reason why anyone, let alone an American, can't comment on Canadian elections.

Checking out isn't the only thing he did. How bout threadcrapping, insulting, USA propagating, the whole she-bang with nothing relating to our choice in politics other than bowing down the to the start bangled flag. Wow!

Agreed. Nothing wrong with that!
What I don't agree with is when a fellow American who stresses that Canada should mimic the political decisions of the US, embrance them as if we're the 51st state, and only talk about how great the US GPD is, I don't see any relation on how this would make our choice of our election or Canada better. Face the fact, we are not American, and we are not in the same shoes as you. Our ethics and culture is different, therefore our election issues are different.

Don't take offense when someone gives you the middle finger, tells you to get bent, or to talk a long walk off of a short pier. We've warned you about what you do and yet you persists. Can you really blame the rest of the world for being angry at you?

I would guess that he talked about the GDP and so on after someone started talking about the faltering US economy, which I don't think is a correct assessment anyways.

Fact is, there are international pundits who post in almost every US based thread, whether it is about politics, our President, our economy, or our culture. RyanSengara is actually a frequent poster to such threas, and he's always full of prejudice against the US. Now, I come in this thread and I'm told it isn't allowed because I'm an American. Heavy criticism of my government, economy, and culture comes from North of the border. Turnabout is fair play. I've said it once and I'll say it every time. I don't have a problem with the vast majority of informed pundits, but you people live in a fantasy world regarding your own country. I know a ton of Canadians, and they rarely paint a picture like you all do.

A new anti-biotic hasn't been made in the USA for over 25 years!

Yes pharmaceutical superiority if you consider viagra and botox injections important.

As far as advanced communications and internet, you lag so far behind canada it's a mother fvcking joke.

Have you ever wondered why sh!tty high speed costs so much? those fvcking 512/128 dsl connections you pay out your assh0les for?

Yeah, come up here, for less than 40 bucks you can have a 1.5mbit/768kbit connection.

Vancouver (the city I live in) is one of the most advanced cities in the world as far as internet. So go fvck yourself to holy hell, and don't come back in this thread.

I actually pay 39.95 for 5 Mbit/1 Mbit

Who do you get that from?

Cheers,

I wish Shaw never left the Ontario region. Rogers cable have been absolutely horrible, if it wasn't for Bell DSL saving me from their massive monopoly, I would be stuck with a 6mbit/1mb line that performs like 128kbits/64kbit line.

I haven't voted in about 2 years because I hate politics. Same sh1t, different day, regardless of who you vote for. My mom said I should have done my civilian duty and voted, and waxes poetic on how long it took females to get the vote, blah blah.

But this election is catching my interest. Why? In my riding, whoever gets the most votes wins the Election (e.g. party's leader will become P.M.). I like Jack Layton -NDP- but that party effed up my beloved province back in the 80s (who could forget the Rae Days and negative impact on goverments and their agencies?)...Dalton McG introduced the health levy (b00) and flat out lied, but I actually like him. I am a bleeding heart Liberal. BUT....the Conservatives are wanting to Americanize Canada. No effing way, not on my watch.

In conclusion I think I'm going to vote for the Green Party.
