lol barbaric institutions...CanOWorms you have never been to Canada or understand Canadian culture...

Yes, I have been to Canada.

I guess you would be happier in a more culturally advanced nation like the US

American culture is naturally more advanced because it is owned by the people rather than the government. Canadian culture is owned by the government and unnaturally subsidized. Culture should belong to the people and be allowed to evolve naturally. Europeans took this to an extreme and look at how their cultural output and influence in the world declined. Canadian culture could be much more influential in the world.

with its wonderfully progressed death penalty

That is horrible indeed.

, fighting wars for oil companies,

Last time I checked Canada funded a war in Sudan and engaged in the slave trade in the 1990s for oil. I suggest you read up on Talisman. Unfortunately it is part of Canadian culture to pretend that stuff like that doesn't happen.

national debt in the trillions, civil rights for homosexual people only in a few states,

True.

insurance based healthcare which 46 million people do not have access too which allows Americans to live on average 2 years less,

Actually, I believe that if you discount factors that cause death other than health care reasons (immediate death in auto accident, etc.) the US has a higher lifespan, so your argument may fall apart there. Also, I would argue that 100% of Canada's population has access to a waiting list rather than health care. And then let's not go into how the Canadian poor are forced to subsidize the health care of the social elite.

but if were also talking barbaric traditions we could also talk about public safety, why per capita we have A LOT less murders,

That's not an institution or tradition like the monarchy.

Now I'm not saying Canada is perfect we do have our problems but the monarchy is no where near a barbaric institution, but in fact a proud tradition. there are 46 other nations in the world with a monarch as the head of state, including American supported Saudi Arabia, and the in past the Iranian Royal family.

The monarchy is a barbaric institution that has NO place in the 21st century. It sickens me that you support the idea that a specific bloodline is superior than all others. Monarchy is DISGUSTING. It belongs in the past with other barbaric traditions like sati and seppuku.

Please join the rest of the world in shedding this barbarism. We are waiting. We have been waiting for hundreds of years for you to be enlightened and progressive on this issue.

I think you guys had that problem a while back too (civil war anyone), what you don't understand is that the french are a source of pride and aggravation in Canada, they are unable to separate because they just do not have the support needed, although at one point separation was popular it has declined, now the French are working inside the government to allow them to continue to keep their culture, similar to the way the natives work (btw I have seen some reports on CNN about some native tribes trying to succeed from the US), we want to protect their culture, Canada is about diversity not a melting pot

Canada is basically the Belgium of North America.

obviously you have never been to Canada when i see a culture remark like that...yes a lot of our culture is borrowed, like every other nation in the world, yet our culture allows us to be treated with a great deal of respect around the world, I would never leave this country without a flag on my backpack, what Canada is known for is our respectful, peaceful ways...maybe inventing peacekeeping helped us with that, the world respects Canadians. We one of the few country's that are officially bilingual, something I'm proud of.

Canada's peacekeeping is a lie told to you by your government. Canadians have not been seriously involved in peacekeeping for quite a while. It's a myth. Torturing Somalians is not peacekeeping. That is the story of Canadian peacekeeping to the world - not what your government pretends.

The world doesn't respect Canadians. Lack of feeling doesn't mean respect. What's next? The world respects Peru?

Crap like this happens when the culture, media access, etc. is so tightly controlled by the government. It's so powerful for the government to be able to control it. They can completely shape you as an individual yet people like you don't realize it.

and "Canada looks snow white compared to the US" well I'm not gonna lie there are a lot of white people here but some words americans once found patriotic

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

well in Canada we still believe that

Let's see some action on it then!

The monarchy is a barbaric tradition. Please abolish it.

That's for us to even begin to consider it, while drunk and puffing on a BC Bud fattie.

That sort of sounds like hell on earth.

For an extremist authoritarian such as yourself, who bases his beliefs on a religion not everyone shares but he still wants to be instituded as law, i bet it is.

I disagree with much of what dennilfloss is saying, but the monarchies of the rich you have in the USA is much worse than anything the Whigs could ever have thought up.

Na, realized in the past year how different we are from Americans and how happy I am here.

+1

Wow, between you two and Sickbeast I'm beginning to wonder about you Canucks. Would either of you care to answer Infohawks question?

Are all Canadians the same? The only reason I ask that is because you guys seem to think that ALL Americans are the same. You realize that we're actually a pretty diverse group of people right?
I did answer Infohawk's question. I think that our two nations should remain separate. While I would support it if the US were to change its foreign policy, I realize that it's nigh-impossible for that to happen, and that it's just plain better to have two autonomous nations next door to one another.

I don't think that all Americans are the same. I suppose my issues came about when y'all re-elected Bush. It's hard for me not to paint 50%+ of you with the same brush. Essentially I believe that everyone who voted for Bush the second time was at least one of the following: ignorant, stupid, a war-mongerer, selfish, a religious fanatic, or any combination thereof (to varying degrees).

If McSame gets voted in, I will lose even more respect for the American people. I can't help it. I'm educated.
