Wow. You must be a BIG dude if you actually want to weigh more than 180!

As a thyroid cancer survivor, I can attest that improper thyroid hormone levels will cause all those things. Might want to make sure you are getting enough iodine too. If so, then you may need supplemental thyroid hormone, although I would bet that what you have been through can cause those same things too, just by depleting your body's reserves, so hopefully the effects are transient. Anyway, congrats again on beating Stage 4 cancer and best of luck adapting to your new body.

I don't want to weigh more than I do now. This Is a healthy weight for me.

To clarify, I used to look at food and gain 10 lbs. I don't look at food as something to comfort me anymore, and as such, eat less and stop when I'm no longer hungry.

I had another CT scan the week before Thanksgiving and still no sign of Cancer. My next scan is 4 months out!!!

I'm feeling better, eating better, and taste and spicy sensitivity is getting better every week.

A year ago I was having tremendous pain in my arm and neck and doctors had identified a "benign" lump in my throat that I had removed Jan 2 2015 that proved to be nothing but a symptom of the cancer growing deeper in my tongue. Amazing what a year can do. It feels so good to wake up and not be in pain. I won't say I'm not worried about the future, but its a healthy concern and you can be sure the first sign of any sort of pain or weird feelings and I'll be getting a battery of tests done.

Your story is absolutely sad but also inspirational. I also hate doctors that can't figure out how to diagnose something and pawn it off on simple items because as a society its all about how cheap can you make things.

Just an update and side note. I've been having a little pain in my neck over the past couple weeks, but it comes and goes. I just had a CT scan late last week of my chest and neck and everything looks good. There is some swelling, but its soft tissue and NOTHING in my lymph nodes. Soft tissue swelling happens around this time of the healing process they said (I'm 9 months out), and very normal, so I'm not really worried, but cautious. My doctor and the one who interpreted the ct scan were very happy with the results and they said everything looked good and not to worry.

On a side note, back in February of 2015, a colleague of mine who had just retired had a pain in his side. Went to the doctor and they found a small lump on his pancreas. They treated it repeatedly throughout 2015 and after initial success, it stopped responding to drugs. He dropped from 220 down to 105 lbs and had been in pain, even with the pain meds.

He passed away Easter morning while his wife was reading scripture to him. We were diagnosed roughly the same time, both non smokers, in good health, and he dies and I didn't. Cancer is so fucking random and there's really nothing we can do about it. This guy played tennis and pickleball, ran, was active, and still died from pancreatic cancer. I'm going to his funeral tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure it won't be easy to attend.
It will be strange thinking about the differences between his (and his family's) situation and yours.

I guess you just have to stay as positive as possible.
Mental negativity = physical negativity

Good luck.

Aw man, sucks that his treatment wasn't successful. But it's almost guaranteed that a pancreatic cancer diagnosis is essentially a death sentence. Worst cancer ever.

But, on a more positive note, it's terrific that you've been doing so well! Keep kicking that bully cancer's ass, mate!

Damn. That's a kick in the head. Fucking random indeed - I hope you aren't prone to survivor's guilt or something.

If the topic comes up, please forward all of our best wishes to his family. I know, I know; "Hi, so, umm, some random dudes on the internet said to tell you you're in their thoughts... but not in a bad creepy way." Still. :'(

Sorry to hear that Slag. I think sometimes perhaps there is a higher calling. Really sucks that your time in this world is cut so short, but I truly believe the spirit caries on in another life. One where there is no more pain, no more suffering and no more sorrow. Personally, when I finally kick off myself, I don't think I'm coming back here if I had the opportunity. That's what my aunt said when she passed from colon cancer. Although, sometimes I wish I could start all over again. But being a kid sucks. Always told what to do, clean your room, brush your teeth, all that rot. LOL No thanks.

I'm sorry to hear.

American health care system is so frustrating.....it's beyond belief. We have experienced similar and have also seen many people with similar frustrations.

I'm all for bashing the American health care system... but what does this have to do with it?

Are you referencing the OP or his most recent update about a former coworker?

Well, this is the one year anniversary. Still alive and kicking and doing well. i've kept most of the weight off, I'm back up to 200 lbs, but its mostly muscle since I work out daily. Feeling good except I pulled a muscle or something WALKING TO THE GYM the other day (yeah, I know, pathetic) and so my back hurts like crazy right now, but otherwise, very very happy to be in such good health.

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you who commented or otherwise had my family and I in their prayers. I'm a firm believer in the power of prayer and postitive thinking and when I found out I was in prayer circles around the country, I was in awe.

Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart and I hope a full blown cancer cure is found in my lifetime.
