This sucks. My uncle was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. Might as well have been handed a death sentence

Dying isn't bad; it's the defined time frame that makes cancer suck.

My wife had a cancerous tumor removed and my boss is dying from another form. It does indeed suck. I wish that it happened to just bad people.

Something to keep in mind is that colon cancer is REALLY hard to detect until it's advanced, this is why screening is important people!

True, but a lot of people don't do them.

Yeah. He hadn't been to a doctor in some time (I could probably go on with this topic and the economic choices people make with high-deductible hospital-only style plans, but I don't mean to divert). He's lost so much weight in the last few months - he could barely eat anything when they brought him his meal. I hope for the best, but at the moment, the outlook is looking pretty grim.

I lost my aunt to colo-rectal cancer - strength your uncle and family. Does he have bone mets? Which options did the oncologists provide for management?

My mom died of colon cancer so I get the scope every 5 years. I'm due again next year I think the doc said.

Sorry to hear about your uncle OP. Cancer does indeed suck.

My mom (at 54 yo) had stage 4 colon cancer and went through surgeries/chemo. She's been cancer-free for 3+ years now.

Cancer sucks

I am watching my dad die in front of me. Stage 4 esophageal cancer that was detected in his brain last week. Really tough to see such a strong guy go through it. He was as strong as a bull 2 years ago, now he's down 120lbs. Poor guy can't even eat and has to watch it around him all day.

Lost my mother to brain cancer and father to complications from multiple myeloma. To say cancer sucks is an understatement. Unfortunately in this country many desire an unhealthy lifestyle (they want what they want) and yet they wonder why this kind of shit happens to them.

Yeah. They're trying to bring his strength back up and get rid of some lingering infections to administer chemo, but the outlook isnt good

If it's reached that point why even bother with Chemo? If you're able to bring his strength up he might better be with his family, stuffing his face with tasty fattening cuisine and try to enjoy what time he has left. Not imprisoned in some disgustingly overly sanitized white hospital sick to the point of paralysis, hair falling out, vomiting and just a train wreck tragedy for the family to bear witness to as the illness drags and drags on.

Subject your family to that and they're going to breath a god damn sigh of relief when you're dead, so taxing had your cancer been on their lives.

My Mom is a stage 4 colon cancer survivor (spread to liver) as well, 2 years cancer free. Best of luck. The outlook nowadays is MUCH better than even 10 years ago.

Yes it does. My grandfather died of lung cancer and my mother in law died of ovarian cancer at a young age. At stage 4 inoperable I'd likely skip the chemo too. Get as much strength back and enjoy as much time as you have left with your family doing what you love. Every dinner is deep fried. Prayers OP.
