That was a good read. My only complaint with the newer shooters is their inclusion of overpowered vehicles.

" Today we learn that Call of Duty 2 has a new healing system that?s obviously trying to cater to Candy-ass vermin ? check this out ? you can go rest until you?re healed up! They should rename the game to ?Call of Campers?. This kind of watered down idealology from Infinity Ward speaks volumes to the fact that they made this game more for Console gamers (mass appeal) other than real gamers."

I agree. This better be modded out quickly. I do believe in one shot one kill for the most part in 'realistic' warfare games... depending on location of the hit of course.

15. You don?t have time to hone your skills because your geometry homework is overdue.

By his assessment, in a general sense, I'm a candy-ass gamer because I put my schoolwork above my video games? Yes, it attributes to not getting good at a game, but I don't recall anyone ever telling me I killed them because they had been working on math homework for the past few days. I know I've never used that as an excuse.

I do agree with him about the way online gaming is going though. I haven't really been addicted to any shooters since Quake II & III, and the original UT. I remember I'd play them online, and at school in our electronics class all the time. Those were some fun times mindlessly fragging buddies.

17. You?ve never hammered on your keyboard and then kept playing.

My ability to control myself and my respect for my wonderful keyboard makes me candy-ass? #12 is kinda funny for me. In CS:S I use the p90, a gun known for it's large clip. I hear complaints about it too, when I take people down while they are reloading. If it works, it works.

haha, i remember the good ol' days of UT (Unreal Tournament). i fragged nonstop for hours on ends. i played instagib, custom map, CTF, you name it. and i did several rocket jumps =P

i haven't really enjoyed any of the latest latest titles, like CoD2 or Quake 4, but i play Counterstrike: Source occassionally nowadays. my main game is Day of Defeat: Source. it is ridiculous how everyone sucks. maybe all the "1337" gamers haven't moved from the original DoD or the hacks haven't been published yet.

Yeah, I've been banned from at least 3 servers for "hacking" in 1.6, when they were just noobs. Thing is, I'm not even that good, highest level I've played at is Cal-O, it's just they're so noob it's rediculous. Three hs kills in a row, and people start yelling hacker (even when you've hit them in the chest 2 times as well).

Effing noobs

EDIT: What's he saying about CS though? My reading comprehension has gone to zero since I've been studying engineering.

Bam!

And that review perfectly sums up why UT2k4 > all those other retarded war based slow paced annoying games

Yeah, i'm a bit pissed off that even Q4 isn't as good as Unreal.

All these new games are designed for n00bs who want boring slow gameplay with a variation of the same goddamn weapon...

It is true games are becomming easier and easier (so it seems anyways). I played cal-p in Counter-Strike and it used to take a lot of ability and strategy of the game to be able to play at that level. Now the games are becoming much easier to play and people who have just picked up the game have a much higher chance of getting a random kill on me (very frustrating). That is one of the main reasons people are sticking to 1.6 because Source is so easy its taking all of the skill out of the game.

Hell, sums up my toughts, I used to play FireArms (a HL mod) untill they went all "realistic" and such (wobbeling guns, recoil, randomisation, etc) imho too much realism in a game isnt fun, because if we wanted realism we'd go outside.

I agree, Quake 1 was the last truly addictive multi player FPS to me, played it so damn much, and to this day there's still not a game close to it.
Though some of the stuff on their list was silly, it's all humor
Personally I find #13 to be a candy ass tactic as well, my idea of a good FFA Quake deathmatch is to just run around randomly all over the map and blowing everyone else up, running in some powerup-pickup-pattern is for sissies

This guy is an angry elitist turd who should smoke a joint and relax, because not all of us are keen enough on any one game to remember every power up location and refuse to budge from one specific game on our PC to play other games on our PC, xb, ps, gc. Yeap, I'm a candy ass gamer all right. I like choices.

I agree, considering CS was for the chumps who couldn't hack it in Q1. And that's just the way of the trend. CS has been babying gamers since it left beta. Get rid of weapon juggeling, get rid of hostage jumping, get rid of bunny hopping, get rid of knife rushing, get rid of wall strafing, add round delays. All things added so that the candy ass gamer can feel like he has some semblance of talent.

If that were true then no one would play the mods/games that are realistic. Besides, I don't know too many of you who go outside and shoot at people irl. At least I hope not.

 to the article. That guys misses the point, and blames what he thinks is watered-down multiplayer games on the gamers. He needs to place the blame on the developers, they are the ones coding the game. Are they coding it because that's the way the majority of gamers want it? Doubtful. They make it easy so it's accessible, therefore it will sell a lot more copies. If a developer put out a game that had a super-steep learning curve in the MP department, so many would be turned off, and not play/buy the game.

Yes, there are a few whiney bitches out there, but I think they comprise of the minority, not the majority.

I don't think he really cared where he was placing the blame. The main point was that the current trend in completely un-competitive gaming sucks and the gamers who don't understand why suck also.

Ahh hell. I have barely done any multiplayer gaming since I left a job where we used to play a modified Quake2 at lunchtime. I just haven't been able to get into anything new, maybe because Im too "old school". For some reason I really didn't like Quake 3 (I do prefer single player games).

I just notice that multiplayer games are either too easy, or with a team, too difficult because your team sucks and doesn't know how to play.
