Ibuprofin?
Asprin?
Benzacaine?
?????

Anyone?

Orajel is probably your best bet. Put some on a Q-tip and hold it there for a minute or so. Chloroseptic on a cotton ball also works well. Again though, if you keep it very clean, it shouldn't hurt very much.

The thing is that it's in a really bad spot. It's on my tongue, the bottom of it in the back. It kinda hurts when I talk, eat, swallow, or basically just about do anything.

Use the Benzocaine to relieve the pain, gargle with warm salt water to make it go away faster.

The main idea is to keep the mouth clean, clean the sore, and dry out the sore to stop it from hurting.

The best thing I have found is a Q-tip dipped in Vodka and then directly applied to the sore. The alcohol cleans the sore, kills the bacteria, and dries the tissue to stop the pain.

Hydrogen Peroxide will also work, just not as well as vodka. Medication is not necessary since vodka is the best medicine.

Mouthwashes work but a Q-tip pressed directly on the sore is the best treatment.

Be very careful that you do not pass this on to someone else since it is very contagious. Take care not to exchange your mouth saliva with anyone. This can happen from spittle when you talk, kissing someone, sharing your eating utensils or glass, or other means.

OK, get Chloroseptic, and spray it in your mouth until it pools in your lower jaw, then use your tongue to move the liquid to the needed spot.

lidocane. You will drool, as it is pretty strong, but it will allow you to eat.

At one time, i had over 50 canker sores in my mouth due to an allergic reaction. I could not eat or drink due to the intense pain.

yeah, the doctors (12 of them) were amazed. Only one of them, the most senior one (73 yrs old) knew what it was.

I don't know where you got this info, but it is nearly all wrong.

All you're doing with Vodka is irritating the area. You'd have to hold it on the sore for quite a while for it to kill anything, and by that time saliva will have washed away most of the alcohol content.

Also, CANKER SORES ARE NOT contagious.

I had them chronically as a kid. Suddenly stopped when I was about 18. That's how I know so much about them

I only get canker sores when I bite the inside of my mouth, eat something sharp that cuts, etc... However, people can get canker sores just through stress. I usually get them about once a month.

Stuff I hear works:

- rinsing with Peridex (I do it when its available)
- rinsing with Listerine (Usually done)
- rinsing with part Hydrogen Peroxide/part water (will try it next time)
- iodine drops (not the iodine!!)
- sprinkle raw salt (hurts like a mofo)
- brushing frequently (hurts if you irritate it)
- especially if you get canker sores from lacerations inside the mouth,
---- get an ice cube and freeze that area before it develops
---- (haven't tried it yet, but will next time!)

I took a couple of pix of the sores, one large one and one where there are 2 fighting for supremacy (pics on request)

Canker sores are not contagious! (although they may be hereditary). They only occur inside your mouth/inner lip area.
Fever blisters/cold sores are contagious, and are basically what you know as Herpes of the oral kind

None of the information I provided is incorrect.
This is what I have found to work the best.
You are free not to use it if you so wish.
Canker sores are most definitely contagious and very easily transferred.

I've spent countless hours trying to find the answer as I'm a frequent canker sore sufferer:

The only effective relief for canker sores is to use a pharmaceutical product called Debacterol. Don't bother running to your drug store because you wont find it there. You may be able to get it at your dentist, though (ask them on the phone first). Otherwise, you need to order it online, here's one place that sells it.

Product works as claimed. Pain is literally gone within seconds of application, permanently (unlike over the counter pain gels which wear off in minutes). Wound heals much faster than if you didn't treat it either. Frankly, it's the closest thing I've ever come to a 'miracle drug'. Everything else you read about homeopathic treatments just amuse me because none of them work.

And make sure you really suffer from canker sores and not herpes -- it's NOT the same.

Google - Are canker sores contagious?
Causes
The exact cause of mouth ulcers is unknown, ...

It would be appreciated for people not to tell me I am wrong when they do not know the facts themselves.
I believe your information to be misinformation.
The contagiousness of canker sores has been proven to me in my life experience. I am merely passing on what I have learned in the hopes others may also learn it and act in a way to prevent the further spread of this problem.

More examples:
American Dental Association
Canker sores ... they are not contagious. ... Their exact cause is uncertain but some experts believe that immune system problems, bacteria or viruses may be involved. ...
Mayo Clinic
Canker sore Canker sores ... aren't contagious. ... Canker sores are common, but the cause in many cases is unknown.
How can it be stated that canker sores are not contagious when their exact cause remains unknown?

I believe a canker sore to be a contagious virus that enters the body through the moist tissue of the mouth and works its way to reside in the spine behind the throat. The sores are believed to be the actual spots the virus originally penetrated the skin. This was research I did on this topic many years ago that I am not able to find at this moment to support. You can believe what I say or not but I certainly believe in this enough to pass it on and defend it from those not willing to think outside the box.

EDIT: Added another example.

I get them all the time, and i just put raw salt on them. It hearts like hell, but it seems to make the smaller ones go away alot faster though. I have yet to find an effective solution for the larger ones.
