... although he's right, as in the definitive cause of canker sores are still unknown,
there isn't proof that shows that it is or is not contagious (even though every single site out there agrees that its not contagious)
Thank you for that admission, it is appreciated.
The proof that convinced me canker sores and cold sores are contagious was when my wife and her mother developed them after a few years of marriage. I have had canker sores and cold sores all my life and knew nothing of them except that they hurt. My wife and her family had never had them before. My wife developed them for the first time a few years after I started living with her and her family. Her mom developed them shortly after my wife did.
From this probable transmission I felt guilty and conducted research on the topic. This was before the internet had developed as it currently is with the myriad of sites with similar cookie-cutter information. This research formed my current beliefs as stated above, that canker sores are indeed contagious and caused by a virus that is sometimes deadly due to its attachment to the nerves within the spinal column directly behind the throat. It is not passed by birth but is believed to be transmitted to newborns through kisses from the mother.
An important lesson to learn in life is how to think for yourself and not blindly believe that which you are told. Provide independent consideration to the various aspects of life and make your own observations, realizations, deductions, and conclusions.
Many contemporary mysteries are understood enough to live with after obtaining proficiency with independent thought.
Be careful with
hydrogen peroxide. It is possible that repeated contact with H2O2 is bad for the teeth and gums. By "repeated contact" I mean the development of a habit that provides repeated exposure over several years.
Domestic Uses
It is commonly used (in very low concentrations, typically around 5%) to bleach human [tissue] hair, hence the phrases peroxide blonde and bottle blonde. It burns the skin upon contact in sufficient concentration. In lower concentrations (3%), it is used medically for cleaning wounds and removing dead tissue. The Food and Drug Administration has approved 3% hydrogen peroxide ("Food-Grade," or without added chemical stabilisers) for use as a mouthwash. Commercial peroxide solutions (most H2O2 bought over the counter from pharmacies) are not suitable for ingestion as they contain additional harmful chemicals.
The FDA, other governmental organizations, and even dentists in this example, do not have your personal health as their top priority. The USA is a capitalistic society with rules developed to further the exchange of money. For example, brushing teeth three times a day provides more wear and tear on the tooth enamel than brushing once or twice a day. The increased wear and tear on the tooth enamel requires more need for tooth repair. Thereby providing more income to the dentists.
Developing the habit of regular hydrogen peroxide mouthwashes will increase the damage occurring to the tooth enamel and gums. Thereby providing more need to visit the dentist.
EDIT: Forgot this. My preference for vodka over hydrogen peroxide is that vodka is naturally "Food-Grade" without the need for an administration to declare it so. Additionally, I have found vodka to work better than hydrogen peroxide.
Furthermore, I like the advice for vitamin E and salt.
