Windows 7 laptop that was infected with several viruses and could not go online. Using Malwarebytes and Antisuper spyware with R kill in safe mode I managed to eradicate all the viruses.

Now I can see all computers on my network but still cannot access the internet. I have tried to connect wired wireless and with a usb wireless antenna. Deleted all the adapters and reinstalled, cleaned up the IE settings. IP address and dns is set to auto.
Any ideas?

Malware can corrupt the core installtion of Windows and thus cleeaning by itself might Not work.

Otherwise instaed of just wondering why it does not connect check the Health of the networking aspect of the computer.

Working TCP/IP stack (Network IP number) should look this way.

Look at the Device Manager and make sure that there is valid installation of the Network card.

Then...

Right click on the Wire card Network Connection, choose Status, Details, and see if it got an IP and the rest of the settings.

http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/status-nic.jpg

Description is the card manufacturing data.
Physical address is the card's MAC number.
The xx should be a number from 0 to 255 (all xx same number).
yy should be from 0 to 255
zz should be from 0 to 255 (all zz the same number.
The lease date should be valid to the current time.

*Note 1. IP that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx is not valid functional IP.

*Note 2. There might be an IPv6 entries too. However, they are not functional for Internet traffic or LAN. They are needed for Win 7 special HomeGroup configuration.

Yes it has a vaild IP address of 192.168.1.18. If it had no vaild IP then I would not be able see the other computers on my network as I stated before. I did however go and check it does have the correct settings. Bpth cards are valid.
I am thinking it a regedit somewhere, where though the virus was taken out it changed the registry in the computer. Maybe

you might try the command the reset the TCP/IP stack for windows 7....her it is..

To fix the problem, open command prompt with administrator privilege (click on Start → type in “cmd” → right click on the command prompt and choose “Run as Administrator&#8221 and type these command:

netsh int ip reset C: \netsh.log.txt
netsh winsock reset
