one of my end user pc has a gateway pIII w/ the Intel Bryant mobo; Intel 815e chipset....it havs a Cyrstal Labs 4299 sound chip on it.
I recently rebuilt it w/ windows 98se. While playing any sort of Video files i get "cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available. no audio hardware is available. The odd thing is that it still plays mp3's.
In device manager thier is a "Crystal WDM Audio Codec", however thier also is an unknown device that doesn't like any drivers i toss at it. I tried four different versions of Crystall 4299 drivers...same result.
TIA!...........
edit: update...it is both audio and video files, i upgraded to media player 7.1 and i get the same results...even w/ a divx player, however winamp still plays mp3's......
