I will try and make this as bried and clear as possible...
I have 1 desktop wired win7 ultimatex64 and 1 laptop wireless windows 7 home premiumx64.
If i Create a Homegroup on any of them the other detects it however the other cannot join it. Just says: windows cannot setup homegroup on this computer.
Things i have tried/verified
Under network the pc's do see each other and i can use regular file and printer sharing.(but wanted to play with homegroup as never really did in the past...)
Ensured both are on the same workgroup
Tried leaving and joining Homegroup multiple times
Tried changing computer names
Ensured proper services were started:
DNS Client
Function Discovery Provider Host
Function Discovery Resource Publication
Peer Networking Grouping
HomeGroup Provider
HomeGroup Listener
SSDP Discovery
UPnP Device Host
IPV6 is on,supported by the router as well(had a homegroup before for a whole 2 days..)
Ensured that they are both on Home Network
Ensured that under network map they see each other.
Ran the homegroup troubleshooter many times no go..
Verified the permissions
Tried 128 bit encryption as well as 40 and 56
Tried using wired connection on laptop.
Tried this guide(http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Why-can-t-I-join-a-homegroup) witch in resume some of what i posted above and Delete the idstore.sset file found in the \Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking .
Anyone have any ideas here?
