Cannot Laod Windows XP Professional

I think that a virus infected my kids computer and crashed it big time. I could never boot as I received a message that some of the windows files were corrupted and could never boot into Windows XP Professional.
So I decided to reinstall Windows XP. I used the WinXP disk to boot into the installation. I deleted the "C" partition and then partitioned "C" again. Then I did an install of windows. The install went fine until the files were being copied. At about 70 % completion, the message came up that the file "nwwks.dll" could not be copied and if I skipped this file windows might not work properly. So the OS was never installed.
I am very frustrated as I spent 4 hours and could not get the OS installed past this point. I ran a seagate diagnostics and the hard drives passed with some minor errors.
I am using an Abit KG7 RAID motherboard, set to RAID 0 , using two IBM 40 GB HDD's (80 GB on the RAID). The BIOS and all drivers have been updated to the latest.
Any suggestions to get this system going again would be appreciated. I am about ready to purchase two new hard drives. Prior to the crash the system ran fine.
Thanks

Why not try it without the raid setup, once with each drive. If it is a drive problem, it is highly unlikely both drives have died. You also might want to try another XP disc, if you have not already. Also, perhaps you should try it with just one stick of ram. Those three are the usual culprits for install errors like you are experiencing.

The Seagate HDD test results:
Drive 1 (IC35L040AVER07-0)
SMART Status Check Result: Unknown
90-Second Test Result: Passed
File Structure Test Result: Failed
Complete Surface Scan Result: Passed with Minor Error(s)

Recommendation:
If you are not experiencing data loss and SeaTools reports File System Structure errors, they may be caused by a lock-up or failure to shutdown Windows correctly. Many times, these errors may be repaired through normal system maintenance. If you are experiencing a hardware error, you should isolate the cause and replace the failing component. If you are unsure how to proceed with repairs, contact a computer professional. After completing any maintenance tasks, run SeaTools again to verify that all errors have been repaired. If errors continue to occur, the system may not be stable. Again, contact a computer professional.

SeaTools Desktop v2.1.05
I take it to mean the Hard Drive is OK but the OS is dead.

Just from my experience, but you do not need a lot of the files that winxp says cannot be copied over. However, it seems like you're installing winxp on an older xp install. Do a clean install (as in wipe the harddrive with a low level format) and install winxp again. Finally, the CD may be scratched or that cd-rom drive you're reading from may need to be flashed to a new bios version if it's having difficulties reading a perfectly good cd. Otherwise, I've gone through installations where I've skipped missing files and the end result still works flawlessly. Just hope the missing files aren't really important ones

I am still unable to install Windows XP.
The system has two Crucial PC2100 256 MB memory sticks and a third OCZ PC2400 128 MB stick. I also have a CD burner and a CD-ROM. Taking two sticks of memory out and trying to install the OS with a single stick of memory failed at : Windows XP Professional Setup. "Setup cannot copy file nwwks.dll". I cannot skip the file as the next file will not load. This happens when I use the CD-R/RW or the CD-ROM.
I also used a second Windows XP Professional CD and the same problem happens.
Can anyone direct me in the right direction to get this system back up and running?
Anything else to try? Any ideas where the problem might lie?
Thanks

Try memtest86. Every thime I have had the MS operating system fail to load on a hard disk it turned out to be Memory problems. In your post you said you removed the 2 sticks of memory have you rotated the memory to every memory dimm combination? If you have your system overclocked I would also recomend you set it back to normal speed.

Just to ask the obvious: what's the physical condition of the WindowsXP CD? If it has scratches, peanut butter deposits or alien tracking devices on the data side of it, that could be throwing your CD-ROM drive a curve.

Also inspect your KG7 for bulging or leaking capacitors.
