I was downloading some music with Limewire to my "New Songs" folder in "My Documents" When i had finished I went to open the "New Songs" folder but it wouldn't open and windows explorer crashed.

I have ran scans with Avast antivirus, Adware SE Personal and Spybot - Search and Destory. While in normal boot mode Avast and Adware freeze when it tries to scan New Songs. Spybot finds nothing. In Safe mode Avast and Adware tries to scan New Songs and the report tells me there as an internal program error and access was denied.

I've done a disk Frag and report gives a list of files in New Songs folder, the music and albums i've downloaded are there along with about 10 different Jpeg imagines with referances to all types of porn, I DIDNOT download any of these.

I Havent tried to delete folder yet as there is 6/7 gigs of music i want to keep, But if it comes down to it, i will try it and download the music again. But first i want to try get the music out of there.

No program i have will browse the folder and when i try to do a search for files i know are in there explorer crashes again.

Also Limewire will no longer open and i've uninstalled and reinstalled it numerous times.

If anyone as any info it would be greatly appreciated

This is an alternate file manager program. Give it a try to see if it will read the folder.

You might also run a chkdsk to see if it finds something wrong.

I'd start by scanning the drive for errors.
My Computer>Right click the drive>properties>tools>check for errors>check fix>start now.

If that doesn't help try moving the files from a command prompt.
Command Prompt Guide
Type "move /?" for instructions on the move command.

If that doesn't help try using data recovery software like PC Inspector

Right guys here's the latest:
1. EF Commander Crashed
2. chkdsk came up with nothin
3. scannin drives for errors came up with nothin
4. I'll have to get me hands on another PC for the PC Inspector
5. I dont know the exact file names, and there's loads of em so cant move using command prompt.

P.S. Forgot to say i'm usin Win2k SP4 with all latest updates.

You might try taking the drive out of the system, and putting it in another system to see if you can get the files you want.

Another thing to try would be to make a Barts PE bootable cd, and see if you could access the files that way.

You don't need file names to work from the prompt. use the wild card *

eg. move *.mp3 c:\music

Files wont move with cmd either. While doin some searches in google i came across a guy with a very similar prob., it turned out rootkits was the cause of his problem.

I downloaded RootKitRevealer from www.sysinternals.com, done a scan and it showed up 7 possible infections but from what i can tell tell don't point to the New Music folder. I then downloaded Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool from http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=890830, a quick scan reveals nothing but on a full scan it crashes. I scans very fast most of the time, so i dont know exactly on what folder it crashes on, but it scans My Documents in alphabetical order.
It finishes scanning My Music and starts on a folder ive named Net Stuff and it gets to a file i have in there called YahooInfo.doc, then program crashes. The Next thing in line to scan is the New Songs folder. So we can assume its crashing on this folder like every other program i've tried to use to access it.

I then tried delete the entire folder, usin the ol' right click/delete, but yeah u guessed explorer crashed. I have a utility call DelinvFile, it deletes files and folders using via its Short Name or its UNC Name. but again crash.

I'm starting to think that may be a reload is my only option, i'm upgrading to a SATA harddrive soon and i was goin to do a reload anyway.
